"Hey Lucille! How was your weekend?" Asked Jackson. Lucy sighed which took Jackson and her other friend, Rumi by surprise.
"Why the long face? Usually, you'd come back and tell us about some epic book you've read, or poetry-or some shit." Said her friend Rumi who tore her eyes away from her mac book for a hot second to raise her delicate brow.
Lucy took a sip of her red velvet latte and sighed again. Her heart was aching. She got her feelings so wrapped around this man in such a short time, she didn't anticipate to be strung out this much to dry. Hiro tried to make it up to her, but Lucy declined his offers of monetary comfort or a shopping spree at Cartier, Dior, or Versace to ease her pain. She just wanted the throes of sex with a passion akin to a romance, but that was too far-fetched in her situation. So, Lucy decided she would just put space between her and Hiro until she could put her head back on straight.
Damn her for being a weak bitch!
She was really in over her head and didn't know whether she should bury her gentle heart and continue to mindlessly fuck this man or let him know that she was growing feelings for him-
"
Lucy...
Lucy?" Rumi nudged her rib and Lucille instantly perked back up.
"Oh my goodness! I really spaced out back there...Sorry," She sheepishly apologized.
"Are you okay hun? You don't seem like yourself." Now Rumi was concerned, her dark charcoal eyes reminded her so much of her tormentor who was putting Lucy through this stress. "Do you need to go home early?"
The young woman shook her head, causing loose curls on the side of her temples to follow after. "No, I'm fine."
Lucille returned back to her desk and tried her best to place her game face on. She answered a few emails, and penciled in events all while her boss, Mr. Wolfe was in a private meeting with Hiro and another investor. An auburn-haired secretary sat outside the door murmuring to someone over the phone and Hiro's secretary sat next to her, glaring daggers at Lucille whenever she could. Lucy tried to pay no mind to the woman but she could feel her eyes boring holes into her temple and it started to make her anxious.
Finally, Lucy raised her gaze to meet Hiro's secretary and to her utter shock- the woman held her stare!
"Uh...can I help you?" Lucy made a face at the woman. The lady snorted in disgust and turned her head away as if to dismiss their little conversation. The woman tucked a raven ringlet curl behind her ear and tapped away at her iPad.
'Oh, this bitch.'
Lucy rolled her eyes and returned back to her work, absently cursing the secretary's new ugly curly hairdo. She looked like a gothic Shirley Temple from Hell.
After a few moments, Hiro, her boss, and their client emerged from his office with light energy around them. Mr. Wolfe talked exuberantly to their client who smirked at his words. Hiro's face was bored but attentive to the conversation, interjecting only when needed. His eyes slid away from the conversation to catch Lucille's dark brown orbs inwardly tangled in his web. His eyes beckoned to meet her in private, but Lucille shook her head slightly and glanced away, successfully escaping from his trap.
Mr. Wolfe and the client finished their conversation and ended it on a high note, giving promises of meeting with their ladies for dinner to finish more business and enjoy some drinks. Mr. Wolfe turned towards Lucille in elation.
"Miss Valentine, before you go on lunch, be sure to clear my schedule for our dinner next week on Tuesday evening." With that, Wolfe made his exit.
Hiro and his secretary stayed back and Hiro glanced at Lucille with intentions to ask her for lunch, but Lucy turned away without a second glance and excused herself, leaving a seething Hiro behind.
~O~
Blinking twice as hard, Lucy's tired brown eyes tried to focus as she was typing away at her computer. For a moment, she glanced at the time and realized it was hours past closing and reaching almost ten o'clock. She sighed and looked around the empty dark office space before saving her power point.
The young woman gathered her things and packed her bag before shutting down her computer and calling it a night. She stretched her tired limbs and released a big yawn. After strapping her heels back on, she walked towards the elevator, not missing the one lone office light still on.
Lucy looked and noticed it was Hiro's office and stopped for a moment. She hadn't really held a conversation with him in over two weeks since they had their little falling out. He seemed annoyed that Lucy had resorted to basically phasing him out from her mind, but she held strong in her convictions and they were not met without the smoking lust that shrouded around them whenever he locked those hypnotic eyes to hers and beckon her to dance in sin with him.
Lucy had to force space between them to cool down their situation and in the process, she threw herself into her work more and tried to ignore Hiro for the better part of the time he was around.
Lucy knocked on the door and peeked her head in to see the beautiful man focused on a stack of paperwork. He lifted his eyes in annoyance at the intruder but they instantly softened when he realized who it was. He laid down his pen and neatly put away the stack of paperwork, almost as if expectant of something to happen. Lucy stayed planted at the door.
"Lucy," he breathed almost happily. "As to why I have the honor of having your audience? Are you done ignoring me?" he rested his chin on his knuckles in amusement. Lucy wanted to scoff.
She pouted instead. "No, I was actually going to ask if you were hungry and wanted to go someplace, but I can just go.."
"No need," Hiro quickly shook his head and motioned for Lucy to take a seat on his lap. She reluctantly moved towards him but opted to sit on the clean spot of his desk instead.
Hiro moved to fill the remaining space with his body and allowed her proximity to take in his familiar scent. He felt her body respond in delight as it fell into a state of familiarity around him and she inwardly cursed at herself for falling back into him so easily. The time between them must have done a number on both parties. She tried to straighten up and be more strong against his advances.
Hiro examined her stiff form and noted how uncomfortable she was under the surface. He knew this was a better time than any to fix this problem they caused if he hoped to have more time with her.
