Cort shifted in his sleep. Moans and incohesive obscenities left his lips as he replayed the scene from the drug store. That had happened four months ago and Cort hadn't seen Iliana since. It had drove him crazy for the rest of the summer but as classes started back up he had been able to divulge some of that aggression into his coursework. He and Susie were still together but even she could feel that he was heart and mind were in two different places. His alarm clock went off and Cort reached over Susie and shut the buzzing off. He sat up in his bed and stretched before tossing the covers from his naked body and getting out of bed. He went into the bathroom and released the urine building up in his bladder. As he flushed the toilet Susie appeared behind him and wrapped her arms around his waist. He felt her nipples and the feel of her lips on his back. "Please remember to pick up your tux today. You forgot yesterday." Susie said. "And I made dinner reservations at Sylvia's around 8 o'clock so we may be a little late to the dance." Cort plastered a smile to show in his reflection in the mirror.
When Susie released him and left the bathroom Cort started his shower. He had locked the door to prevent Susie from joining him. Since the drugstore incident with Iliana, Cort had refused to have sex with Susie. Granted he accepted a blowjob from her here and there but he only wanted Iliana and he had to find her.
He let the hot water run through his hair and groaned as the thought of Iliana caused his dick to shoot up and reach his navel. Pre-cum leaked from his head and he stroked the hard flesh until his cum was blending in with the water at his feet. "Where the fuck is she?" he said aloud and finished his shower.
Drying his hair Cort left the bathroom and dressed for the day. Susie had already left since Cort had only one bathroom and she had to dress for her finals. Cort left his apartment half an hour later and headed onto campus to take the finals for his classes before winter break. He whizzed through the test and handed it to his professor who wished him a safe and happy holiday. Cort smiled and left the classroom and headed to pick up his tuxedo for the dance that night.
Cort stared at his reflection as he tied the red bowtie. Susie was standing next to him looking drop dead gorgeous in a tight red gown. Her dark hair was done up in curls and she was applying her makeup while Cort was buttoning up the last of the buttons on his white dress shirt. "We make the perfect couple, don't you think." Susie smiled as she leaned against Cort and stared at their reflection together. "God I hope these two weeks fly by. Why don't you want to come home with me? My parents are dying to meet you." Susie said and Cort placed a kiss on her forehead.
"Don't you think it's a little too early to be meet the folks?" he said and exited the bathroom. Susie huffed and followed him.
"It's been a year!" she screamed. "I love you Cort and I really see this relationship heading to the altar." she said and Cort spun to her and held up his hand to silence her.
"I don't wanna argue with you. Let's just go to dinner and this dance and call it a night." Cort grabbed his shoes and placed them on. He stared at Susie who seemed frozen in her placed. She grabbed her shoes and did the same and they headed out the door.
The ride to Susie's favorite restaurant was in silence. Cort pulled up to the curb of the restaurant and handed his keys to the valet when he exited his car. Susie got out and they walked inside the restaurant. After being seated Cort looked over the menu while Susie stared at him. He looked over the edge of his menu and met her gaze. "What?"
"I got you something." she smiled as she reached inside her purse and pulled out a small box and slid it across the table to him. Cort gulped as he took the box and opened it revealing a gold band inside. "It's a commitment ring." Susie explained. "It's just something to let you know that you are the only man for me and every day I am thankful that you chose me as your girl." A sudden rush of guilt fell upon Cort and he closed the box and set it down. "Well don't you like it?" Cort nodded his head and licked his dry lips. "Where's my gift?" she asked with an innocent look on her face. There was an awkward silence and Cort saw Susie's face grow red in anger. "Cort! You didn't get me anything?! We've been together for a year and you couldn't get me even a lousy card to show that you appreciate me?!" She was now standing as she screamed at him. "Do you want to be with me?" Cort couldn't bring himself to look at her. He honestly didn't know the answer to that question; part of him did but the other part wanted Iliana so badly it was starting to consume the other half of him. "I'm leaving. When I get back from visiting my parents please let me know the answer!" With that Susie stormed out of the restaurant.
Cort wiped his hand over his face and left the restaurant after he informed the waiter he didn't need the table and paid the $25 cancellation fee. He searched for Susie when he left the restaurant since they had rode together. When he couldn't find her he headed home.
The next day both David and Melanie called him wondering why he and Susie didn't show up to the dance the previous night. He explained to them that he and Susie had broken up and both were shocked. Cort got out of bed after the phone call and spent the rest of the day sulking in the living room watching old westerns in his underwear. It was close to 10 o'clock that night when Cort grew hungry. It was too late to cook so he went into his bedroom and pulled on some clothes and walked to a nearby pizzeria.
Sitting alone in a booth closest to the window he chewed on his pepperoni pizza and smiled at the giggling teen girls who waved at him. He turned his attention outside and nearly choked on his pizza as he saw Iliana across the street. She was kissing a rather handsome black man and sporting a pregnant belly. She was smiling and seemed so happy. She could be that happy with him, he felt, if she just would give him a chance. He jumped up from his seat and rushed out the door.
"Iliana?" he said when he reached her across the street. She looked up at him and her smile faded. Cort's eyes went from her eyes, to her belly, to the eyes of the man who had tightened his grip around her waist.
"Who is this?" he asked Iliana as he stared at Cort.
"Give me a minute baby." she said and kissed her companion. He nodded his head and walked away.
Cort stared at Iliana and felt like strangling her. "Is the baby mine's?" he blurted out angrily when her male friend was a good enough distance away.
Iliana laughed and shook her head no. "You used a condom remember. Tyrell is the father. We're getting married." Iliana told him and Cort's heart sank and she saw this in his face. "Why so gloom? You have a girlfriend remember." Iliana spat.
"We broke up. She doesn't make me feel the way you do. I feel like you're my addiction. I've been going crazy these last four months." Cort reveals to her. "And now to see you kissing another guy and carrying his child is more than I can handle."
"Well you won't have to worry about seeing that. Tyrell and I are moving to New York next month right after our wedding." Iliana told him and could see the hurt in his eyes.
