Zoe awoke to an empty bed. "You have got to be kidding me." She said out loud to herself. Remembering earlier events she couldn't help but smile. The way he had looked at her was enough to set her on fire. She thought what had just happened was the most amazing thing that's ever happened to her. Zoe was positive Logan was the one. But seeing how he wasn't in the bed when she woke up must mean he felt differently. She told herself it was no big deal. That she should have seen it coming. Hell, Logan is definitely creative enough to concoct some elaborate scheme to get in her pants. She could have been some sort of challenge for him. Ugh, if that was the case she didn't even put up a fight. Well at least now she knew it wasn't real, no more wasting her life thinking about what could be. But the things he said to her... those couldn't have been fake. Who would say all of that just to get laid? She got up and made her way to the bathroom to shower. She examined the red bite marks Logan left on her neck. Only then did it truly sink in. She had fucked her best friend and things were going to be awkward now.
Logan was rushing to get back to Zoe. He was praying she hadn't woken up yet. His quick grocery run had turned into a 30 minute field trip. He wanted to pick up some items so he could make her some lunch. But of course things weren't working out as planned. There seemed to be a million people at the store and the teenager at the register was so busy playing on his damn iphone he took forever to ring up the items. Logan didn't want her to think he just up and left. He got out his phone to call and reassure her that he was coming back only to realize it was back at her house.
Zoe checked her phone, maybe Logan had called. God, she was obsessing over him. Why was this bothering her so much? She knew Logan, and this was totally his M.O. The only message she had was from her sister Tia who was apparently in labor... an hour ago. Forgetting her guy problems she took a shower and threw on some clothes and headed to the hospital.
When Logan finally made it back Zoe's car was gone. He fucked up. Trying to do something special for her had screwed everything up. "I should have just stayed in bed with her." He had gotten a little bit ahead of himself obviously. She didn't need lunch, she needed him to be there so it didn't look like some fling. He was thinking too much, maybe it was an emergency. She wouldn't just up and leave. If Zoe thought Logan had hit it and quit it she would surely be there to give him a piece of her mind. She wouldn't let any man get away with some shit like that. There was nothing he could do but wait for her to return.
Zoe couldn't believe how beautiful her new nephew was. His light green eyes and thick black eye lashes. This kid was going to have women fighting over him. She looked over at the beautiful family Tia and her husband Jackson had made. The twins, Jacob and Julian, were 7 year old clones of their father and sweet little Adrianna was 4 years old. Not to mention the latest addition to the family who was yet to be named.
"It should start with a J" Jackson argued. "so far all the boys names start with a J."
"Ugh. Do we have to be one of those families? It doesn't have to start with a J. Baby, let's just pick a name we like." Tia wanted to mix it up a bit. "What do you think Zoe?"
"I can't believe you guys didn't figure this out months ago." Zoe giggled. She loved holding this precious little person. She wanted to protect him from all the hurt in the world. To shield him from all the bad things. She wanted a family like her sister's. The kids were well behaved and respectful while still being happy playful children. They were perfectly balanced. Jackson and Tia were the perfect couple, total opposites that fit together just right.
"What about Logan?" Jackson asked.
"Zoe don't you have a friend named Logan?" Tia nudged her side. "I like the way that sounds. Jacob, Julian, Adrianna and Logan." Jackson nodded his head in full agreement.
"Only if you want to torture me." Zoe said under her breath. She accompanied them home and helped to get the new baby settled. She stayed with them for the rest of the day enjoying the family and getting Logan off her mind. While Tia slept, Zoe and Jackson handled the house. She didn't want to go home yet, her bed smelled like HIM but it was getting late and there was virtually nothing left to do. "Let me know if you need anything. Seriously, anything at all. I will be here." She hugged her sister tight.
"Honey you've done enough. You practically cleaned the entire house, you cooked dinner for everyone and you handled my crazy kids... Thanks kid sister now go get some sleep." She pulled Zoe in for another hug.
Logan had been waiting hours outside her door. He was starting to believe she wasn't coming back. He didn't know what he was going to say to her but he had to at least be there when she got home. Logan jumped to his feet when he saw her car pull up. He couldn't help but smile, the thought of her made him happy.
"I don't want to speak to you." Zoe pushed past him to get to her door. She was aggravated when she saw that smile on his face. There was nothing to be smiling about.
"I didn't leave! I swear to you Zoe. I bought groceries." He was pleading with her. Why wouldn't she believe him. Logan has never, ever lied to her. She was the only person he was completely honest with.
"You're so full of shit Logan!" Tears were forming; she didn't want him to see her cry over him. Zoe was upset earlier, but seeing him there somehow made it worse. Like he was rubbing it in her face that he had succeeded, he had got in her pants. Now why was he here lying to her? Why couldn't he go move on to the next girl? She wanted to slap him and be held by him all at the same time. She hated him.
"I was going to make you lunch! I have lettuce wilting in my backseat as we speak!" Logan pointed to his car. He had to make her listen. The look on her face broke his heart. This is not going to be ruined over a trip to the grocery store. Logan wanted to pull her close and kiss her. That would surely get the message through. He made a move to touch her but Zoe pulled away. "Zoe I would never leave you. You know this! Baby just listen to me."
"Don't call me baby." Zoe said as she slammed the door in his face. Honest to God, she didn't want to see that man ever again.
Logan really didn't have a choice but to drive home. He couldn't understand how things were so good that morning and had just turned to shit that night. He couldn't understand how a simple errand had fucked everything up. What was he supposed to do if Zoe wouldn't listen to him. He remembered her moaning underneath him, arching herself to him. What he would give to have that back. To have HER back. He slammed on the brakes. He was not giving up that easily, Logan waited too long for this woman to leave on a misunderstanding.
