Chapter 2
The cheers from the crowd were raucous. Lauren stood up, her skin very pale and freckled in the bright overhead football lights. She shouted "Go Aries!" He had just made an interception that had turned the game around.
Lauren didn't know much about football, but when her new black friends from college asked her to come watch because they were in the game she was more than willing to cheer them on. Derek, Tyrone, Aries, and Jamal were playing for the home team. She had met them when she moved into the apartment complex about five weeks ago. Derek and Tyrone lived in the same complex as Lauren.

She grabbed the six-pack of beer that her boyfriend Jay had brought over a week ago and head out to the guys' place. She'd buy him another one, before he got back and he wouldn't even notice, she thought. When she knocked on the door, Tyrone opened it.
"Hey Lauren," he smiled.
"Hi," she grinned back.
"You're here early," he said. "Come on in,"
"Thanks," She entered and saw Derek messing around with some speakers. "Hi Derek!"

No one else was getting it, so Lauren went to open it with Derek's blessing.

Lauren got her drink and backed up through the doors. Another girl bumped into her and Lauren's drink fell backward.
