Noor Rabat, a curvy, bronze-skinned and dark-haired Moroccan Muslim woman, is the Queen of the Bank Street Call Center or BSCC. The six-story beige and brown brick building, located in downtown Ottawa, is within walking distance of a Scotia Bank, a Shoppers Drug Mart and The Independent, a major grocery store. It houses several government offices and the call center takes up three of its floors. While it appears to be, on the surface, as nondescript as it gets, looks are deceiving. Seriously, this place is a world unto itself, ladies and gentlemen.
BSCC is less like a business building and more like a fiefdom, folks. Those who run the place operate by a different set of rules. They don't give a damn about what the rest of Canada thinks and do their own thing. That is putting it quite mildly. The majority of the call center's workers are black folks who are fluent in both English and French. The majority of the call center's managers are Arabs and North African Muslims. Yes, the dynamic is fucked up to say the least. These particular managers are not always kind to these particular workers, to put it politely. Oh well, work is work, right? Not much anyone can do about it.
A lot of the Arabs and North African Muslims working at the BSCC don't like Noor Rabat because this feisty gal breaks the mold. A lot of Arab men and North African Muslim men have black girlfriends and black wives but there is an unwritten rule against Arab women having sexual relations with black men. Arab vaginas are supposed to be off-limits for black men but Arab penises are quite fond of black vaginas. Make it make sense, folks.
