"Leroy Johnson, you have the choice between ten years in prison and a radical form of therapy that lasts ten weeks," said Judge Kima Gallivant. The six-foot-tall, curvy, dark-skinned and dreadlocked African American female judge looked regal in her robes. The main courtroom of the Supreme Court of Georgia, located in downtown Atlanta, held its collective breath. Everyone stared at Leroy Johnson, who seemed to be just another young black man eager to throw his life away by being thuggish and foolishly committing crimes. Well, this could be a turning point...
"Bring on the therapy," Leroy Johnson said smugly. The tall, dark-skinned and heavily tattooed young black man flashed his grilled gold teeth. The Supreme Court of Georgia shuddered. The bailiffs took Leroy away. His attorneys looked contrite. Leroy was taken back to his cell at the Fulton County Jail. The young man thought he'd just beat the system. Little did he know that Judge Kima Gallivant had some major things in store for him.
"You are a rough one," said deputy sheriff Clayton Whiteside as he escorted Leroy Johnson back to the Fulton County Jail. The tall, blond-haired and blue-eyed lawman looked at the super chill black thug. Leroy Johnson didn't fit the profile of the average black thug. He didn't come from the hood. He didn't grow up in the projects. Leroy was born in the town of Kennesaw, Georgia, to Dr. Jack Johnson and schoolteacher Mercy Fleurimond-Johnson. Leroy's younger brother Calvin Johnson attends Morehouse College on a full academic scholarship. The brother comes from good stock but he opted for the thug lifestyle because he has a rotten soul. Oh well...
"No prison can hold me, copper, I am the original thug, I'll be out on them streets in no time," Leroy taunted Whiteside from the back of the police patrol car. Whiteside shook his head and continued driving. In his time as a sheriff's deputy, Whiteside had seen many men and women who foolishly threw their lives away. Sometimes, their actions were the result of poor choices and poor circumstances. Leroy here wasn't like those poor souls. The dude grew up in a mansion in Kennesaw, Georgia, and attended a private Catholic school. Leroy's parents gave him everything. Why did Leroy make such poor choices?
