Sunday, the next morning Jennifer woke up in Amy's room. She looked out the window, it was a bright and sunny day.
As Amy had not awoken yet, Jennifer laid there thinking about what she had seen yesterday, and what Amy had told her.
Amy had told her that she had started seeing colored boys about a year ago.
Jennifer still couldn't understand how Amy could do those things with black boys. But when Amy talked about it, it was as if it was the best thing she had ever done.
Then Jennifer heard Amy turn and yawn.
"Good morning sleepy head." Jennifer said to Amy.
"Good morning." Amy said.
"Have you been awake long?" Amy then asked.
"No, twenty minutes maybe." Jennifer told her.
"What time is it?" Amy asked.
"Almost 7:45." Jennifer told her.
Then someone knocked on the door to Amy's room.
"Are you awake girls?" It was Amy's mother.
"Yes mom." Amy told her.
"Did you sleep well last night Jennifer?" Amy's mother asked Jennifer.
"Yes I did, thank you." Jennifer said.
"Well, you girls better get ready, it's Sunday you know." Amy's mother told them.
Sunday meant that it was time to go to Sunday mass at the church.
The girls then got up and washed up. Then they got dressed and went downstairs.
Amy's mother was standing in the kitchen making breakfast, and her father sat at the kitchen table reading the newspaper.
"There you are, I didn't know what you usually have for breakfast Jennifer, so I made you some sandwiches." Amy's mother told Jennifer.
"That will be just fine." Jennifer told her.
Amy's father looked up from his newspaper.
"Did you girls have a nice time last night?" Amy's father asked them.
"Yes we did dad." Amy told him.
"You didn't stay up too late did you?" Her father then asked.
"No, not too late." Amy said as the girls giggled a bit.
The girls had stayed up a little past midnight.
Her father then went back to reading his newspaper.
Then they ate breakfast.
About a half an hour later as they were getting ready to go to the church.
"You can come with us to the church, if you want to Jennifer." Amy's mother told her.
"No, I should really get home and see if my parents have gone already." Jennifer told Amy's mother.
"Also I should really change into my Sunday dress." Jennifer then told them.
"Well see you there." Said Amy's mother as she and Amy's father went into their car and waited for Amy.
"Are you doing anything tomorrow after work?" Amy then asked Jennifer.
"Not really." Jennifer told her.
"Why do you ask?" Jennifer asked.
"Well, I'm going over to a boy I know to have some fun." Amy told Jennifer with a smile on her face.
"A colored boy." Jennifer asked.
"Yes, you can come if you want to." Amy told her.
"No I shouldn't." Jennifer told her.
But Jennifer couldn't help but to be curious, after hearing Amy talking about black boys last night.
"Well if you change your mind, meet me here at five O'clock tomorrow." Amy told Jennifer.
"We'll see." Jennifer told her.
Then Amy went over to her parent's car and they then drove off to church.
The only thing that Jennifer could think about on her way home, was Amy's proposal.
Could she actually do something like that with a colored boy? Jennifer hadn't even done that with a white boy. All that Jennifer had ever done, was to kiss a boy in school on the mouth.
Later as she came up to her house, Jennifer saw her father's police car outside along with their own car.
"They might be waiting for me." Jennifer thought to herself.
Then as she walked inside, she also noticed a pair of shoes that didn't belong to anyone in the family.
Jennifer wondered about whose shoes they could be, they were a bit dirty. When she looked around, she couldn't find anyone.
Then she heard something bump into something upstairs. And then it hit her, the shoes belonged to Darnell.
"Oh my god." Jennifer thought to herself.
