This story is set in 1981, so there is no internet, no social media, no mobile phones which take photographs and a realistic expectation that one could be indiscreet in comparatively public situations without consequences.
There are other stories which link into this, but it is designed to be stand-alone apart from the first one in the series. Just take it that the main character has split up with her fiancΓ© and has realised that she is a more sexual person than she has previously been prepared to admit to herself.
There are at least two more stories in this series, and probably one stand-alone one where "Ronald" reacts to what is going on and where the interconnections to the other stories are dealt with.
By the way, all but the final song could plausibly have been on an April 1981 Juke Box, and the last song came out in November 1981. Even if you don't like the story, watching Bucks Fizz doing Making Your Mind Up, Coast to Coast singing Do The Hucklebuck (and the Honeymooners clip with Art Carney), Shaking Stevens singing This Old House and Green Door and revisiting John and Olivia singing You're the one that I Want will enhance your life

As Jill and Amber walked into the pub, the reaction of the male customers to them was gratifying. She felt that all eyes were on them. They were wearing some of the clothes they had bought at Monsieur Ambrose's.
Amber was wearing tight black pedal pushers, which stopped just below her knees, flat shoes and a red blouse with enough buttons undone so up close you could see the top of her breasts. Yes, she believed in making it easy for a man to get her tits out. She'd also added a short black choker scarf around the neck. Amber was ready to do the Hucklebuck.
Jill wore a tartier version of the Bucks Fizz costume. The red top was lower cut, and a Gossard Wonderbra enhanced her cleavage. The purple skirt disguised the fact that her sluttiness was enhanced by high heels and black stockings from Monsieur Alphonse's. She had little doubt that any man watching would like to see some more.
As they walked up to the bar, two men approached them. One was muscular and looked like a rugby player, possibly in the scrum. If Jill's night in Coketown had taught her anything about her type, he was it. The other was a slighter but still athletic-looking man -- maybe a cricketer or a fly-half. More of an Alan. Well, she could leave him to Amber. Mid-twenties, perhaps, as the haircuts were definitely professional.
The shorter one embraced Amber, saying, "Amber, my favourite English teacher."
Amber looked at him, "Edmund, Roland, it's good to see you."
The larger one said, "Could you introduce us to your enchanting friend?" An upper-middle-class voice and pleasantly deep.
Amber said, "Roland Thomas, Edmund Murdoch, meet Rebecca. Rebecca, I met them at Bianca's sister's party last weekend."
Jill remembered Bianca. They hadn't been close at university, but she'd been friendly enough. Bianca had married a wealthy older man a few years back.
Roland, the larger one, said, "Delighted to meet you, Rebecca. Any friend of Amber's is a friend of ours. Can we buy you both a drink?"
Amber said, "You can indeed and why not join us?"
They grabbed a U-shaped booth. In front of them, there was a table for the drinks. Roland went to get the drinks in while Edmund sat between her and Amber.
Amber said to Edmund, "You both look very smart."
"We've both been having job interviews this week. We are trying to look like eager young professionals rather than the reprobates we really are. Roland regrets losing the Magnum PI moustache, but it's not the thing for accountants at an international firm to have facial hair and look like Tom Selleck. One of our best friends is a theatre director and gave us tips on how to look more mature and confident."
He turned to Jill and said, "It's stupid, but in looking for jobs, our sporting past seems to be rather more important than our academics."
Jill said, "You look like a cricketer, and Roland is more like a rugby player."
"We play both. He is better at rugby, and I am better at cricket. We also play squash, and that also helps at interviews. Worryingly, the interviewers think we are men just like them. We're not certain if they think we are old farts in waiting or because they want to believe they were once like us."
Jill decided that she liked Edmund and hoped that Roland was similar.
Roland returned with the drinks and sat down next to Jill. He was about six feet two inches tall and solidly built--muscle, not fat. He had a charming smile.
Amber asked, "What are you doing here?"
"We're doing the scenic walks you and Gerald recommended and celebrating the fact that we both got job offers this week. We're staying at the pub. They have two rooms upstairs."
They chatted for a bit, and then Roland looked at her and said, "Rebecca, I will give you fair warning. I will do my best to be good company this evening. If you are fancy-free and free for anything fancy, I will do my best to convince you that I can provide you with what you need tonight."
Amber laughed, "Christ, you don't beat about the bush, do you?"
"I assumed you would warn her about me if I didn't make the position clear. Besides, JR will be along shortly, and I need a head start."
Amber said, "Rebecca, let's go powder our noses."
Once inside the ladies, Amber checked that it was empty and said, "Roland was a lot of fun at the party last week. He can strut his stuff on the dance floor. I'm afraid I had to be respectable as one of the school governors was there, but the woman he hooked up with was delighted the next morning. It'll be an entertaining evening or two rather than a relationship, but it may be what you need right now."
After the wine they had already drunk today Jill knew her friend was right.
Anber laughed, "I think he's your type, but you might be interested in JR as well. He's maybe an inch shorter, but he's pretty muscular as well. He also dances well and did not spend the night by himself either. I'll look after Edmund."
Jill thought, why not flirt with Roland and JR? She had realised that she had been only intellectually and emotionally attracted to Alan and not physically attracted (except on the dance floor and last Monday night).
Perhaps what she needed was two confident, dancing rugby players to flirt with. Well, maybe a bit more than that. It would be good for her confidence, and it was more satisfying and less dangerous for her career than giving the sixth-form men hard-ons.
When they got back to the table, another man had joined Roland and Edmund. He was a hunky young man who looked familiar. He was wearing tight black jeans, a leather jacket and a black T-shirt, which showed off his physique. He was introduced as JR. He looked affluent and confident. She took another look at the young man. He definitely looked familiar and sexy.
Roland got up to let her in. She looked at him and then greeted JR. "JR, Roland here has suggested that the two of you will compete for my favours tonight. I've just got out of a long relationship." She showed off her finger on which she had used to wear an engagement ring.
"I don't want anything serious yet, but I'm on for more to drink and some dancing. I'm probably on for a kiss and a cuddle with at least one of you. Let's see what happens after that. Maybe." She realised that she didn't want to choose between the men and giggled at the implications.
