Daisy had been on a lot of dates in the last year. Some were better than others, and some were definitely worse. Tonight's date seemed like one of the better ones, but she knew that there was only one surefire way to tell.
"-but they don't even make that kind of wine in Spain! I'm telling you, the look on that sommelier's face was priceless."
Maybe her standards were slipping a little, but Jake was a nice guy, if a little boring. He was tall and handsome and clearly spent more time and money on his hair than she did on hers. She could also tell from the sizable bulge in his too-tight trousers that he at least had the potential to make listening to his over-rehearsed stories worthwhile.
She wasn't looking for anything serious right now, so a nice dinner with a chance at ending up in bed sounded like a good Saturday night to her, and he'd been more than happy to agree. And why shouldn't he? She may be letting her standards slip when it came to men, but she always showed up looking her best. She wasn't the perky 22-year-old paralegal she was a decade ago, but her tits still looked great in the green dress with the plunging neckline, and she'd already caught him looking at her ass on the way to the table. He just had to prove one thing to her, and she'd be all his for the night.
Could he make her cum?
Daisy smiled back at him and took another bite of the key lime pie they were sharing. "I have to confess, most of what I know about wine is what I learned in law school, which was more about how many bottles of wine you'd need to make it through the weekend with four girls drinking to forget everything they learned that week."
Jake laughed - he had a good laugh, which she always appreciated - and took a sip of his very overpriced red. "You said you were pretty wild in those days. You're still roommates with one of them, right? Vera?"
"Yes! Well, two of them if you count Tubs."
He looked confused for a second, but then snapped his fingers and said, "Right, the cat! I love that picture you sent with him in the little hat?"
He was trying so hard and it was so cute. She was really enjoying herself here, and when the waitress came by with the check, he'd pay and she would ask him if he wanted to walk her back to her place and maybe did he want to come up?
She really liked a good first date, but if she was honest with herself, it was that last part that always tripped her up. Because no matter how cute or smart or charming they could be, it kept coming back to that one question:
Could they make her cum?
"Oh my gosh, yes," she said, her two cocktails warming her around the edges. "With the little cowboy hat on? I tried putting boots on him once and now I've got a three inch scar going up my inner thigh. He was going right for the artery on that one."
"Whoa, you're kidding?"
She bit her lip and said, "Guess you'll have to find out."
The waitress came by and he handed her his card before she could even hand him the check.
He was a good kisser, she discovered in the hallway outside of her apartment. He didn't crush her against the wall like some guys, but he kept a firm pressure with his hands and hips so she could feel how excited he was too. She has a good feeling about this one, and not just because he was packing.
He pulled back, a little breathless. "Is your roommate home?"
She nodded. "Yeah, but it's fine. She's cool about people coming over. You'd like her."
Jake smiled and motioned for her to lead the way. The apartment was dimly lit, with all the touches of home that two overworked lawyers could manage. Tubs was there to greet her, his fat orange body draped across the floor. She scooped him up in her arms and held him like a baby.
"Care for one more drink," she asked. "I couldn't tell you what kind of wine we have, but I know we have some around here..."
He didn't seem particularly interested in her cat or her bottle of mystery wine, but they were here in her apartment and she was clearly going to take him back to her bed eventually, right? "Sure, after you."
She deposited the cat on his usual chair and motioned for Jake to find a seat on the couch while she acquired the wine. It looked like a passably good red, although it probably wasn't up to his standards. She chuckled to herself; guess she wasn't the only one who might have to compromise a bit tonight.
A door creaked opened and Daisy heard her roommate come down the hall. "You must be Jake. I'm Vera, nice to meet you."
Daisy pulled down three glasses as Vera took a seat in the big chair next to Tubs. She was a compact woman with sharp, Eastern European features who wore as few clothes as possible in these hot summer months. Today she'd opted for a black sports bra and thin linen shorts that barely covered the fact that she wasn't wearing any underwear underneath.
"Oh, hi...yes, nice to meet you." Jake kept his composure well; he barely seemed disappointed to have his date crashed like this, although maybe he was just distracted by Vera's legs as she shifted positions in the chair and likely flashed him in the process.
Vera smiled wryly, not giving anything away as she eyed Daisy's date. "How was dinner?"
Daisy brought the overfilled wine glasses back to the couch and handed one to Vera. "It was good. We split some pie for dessert."
Vera took a sip and raised one eyebrow at her. "Oh yeah? How was it?"
Jake took a tentative sip at his own wine and said, "The crust was a little thick, but the filling was very flavorful. Not too sweet or too tart."
Vera bit her lip to keep from laughing. "That sounds like some excellent pie. You should have ordered another slice."
"It was good to share," said Daisy. She gulped down half of her own wine. Vera enjoyed toying with her dates like this, before they got down to business. She did the same thing with opposing counsel sometimes, although usually not with the same intentions.
Vera kept her eyes on Jake, running a finger across the rim of her glass. "So I guess you guys might want some privacy, huh?"
He smiled and gave a nervous little cough. "Oh, well-"
