Sometimes Dana has to get out of her own way to enjoy herself.
CHAPTER FIFTY
The shower with Vivian involved some kissing and mutual fondling, but didn't last long. The bathroom was steamy, and there were no more clean towels, though damp towels were piled on the floor. Dana was grateful that she'd brought her own towels in her bag, as had Vivian.
The bedroom was still jammed with people when Dana escaped the sauna-like bathroom. She exchanged contact info with Vivian, and then they parted. The main room was also crowded. As was the other bedroom, when Dana peeked inside. There were far more people at this party than the last one.
Every bed was fully occupied. Overflowing, really.
People were fucking on the floor in a couple of spots, on piles of blankets and comforters pulled from the beds. The conversation circle was filled, and a mass of bodies occupied the bed in the main room as well, unidentifiable men and woman fucking one another, observed by others who were standing around it.
The mini-fridge was empty. Of course. Dana found a bottle of room-temperature water amongst the food and drink offerings. She opened it and stood in the corridor near the hallway door sipping it, her bag by her feet.
She felt overheated, sweaty despite her shower, and crowded by the press of bodies.
She'd taken the shower with Vivian thinking she'd cool off, get something cold to drink, and then find another playmate or two. Her interest in doing so was fading fast. She didn't feel sexy. She didn't feel horny.
She
wanted
to, but she didn't.
There wouldn't be another such party before the semester ended and she was back home for the summer. She wanted to keep playing but she could feel her desire to continue fading fast. She felt alone in the midst of this crowd, unnoticed, resentful. She felt...like she so often had at normal parties early in her first semester.
Dana scowled, angry at the crowd and angry at herself. She thought she'd gotten past that sort of thing, or at least didn't have to deal with it at Tito's parties. She thought she'd found her tribe here. It was annoying to find herself retreating into her shell again, watching other people talking and laughing--and having sex--while she couldn't find it in herself to join in.
"You look...angry," someone said.
Dana blinked, bumped out of her dark thoughts. "June," she said. "Not angry, just...feeling crowded."
June glanced around. "It is a big crowd. It wasn't this big last time?"
Dana shook her head. "Not even close. I don't like it."
She took a moment to really look at June, who stood in front of her, dressed once more in the little black dress she'd worn when they arrived. Her hair was mussed, and her lipstick was long gone. She looked slightly flushed as well. Dana smiled, her dark mood lifting a little.
"You look like you've been having fun," Dana said.
June's gaze strayed, unable to hold Dana's. "Yeah," she said. She half-turned for a moment, as if she could see through the crowd into the bedroom behind her. "I got a massage..."
"You met Tom and Helen," Dana guessed.
June nodded.
"He's got magic fingers, doesn't he?" Dana said. He'd massaged away her nerves, and given her numerous orgasms at her first party. She'd hoped to have sex with him again, but the crowd was just too much for her now.
June blushed a little but nodded. "He really does."
"Did he make you come?"
June nodded again, blushing more powerfully but willing to reply. "Yeah."
"Did you--" A foursome squeezed between them with apologies, to gather their coats and depart. When the door closed behind them, Dana asked, "Did you have sex with him?"
June smiled shyly. "I did, yeah." She paused, then added, "I never had sex with anyone his age before."
"Me neither," Dana confessed. An awkward silence grew between them. Dana was curious about June's experience of the party, but wasn't sure how to ask, or if June would be willing to answer. June took advantage of the pause to obtain her own bottle of water. As she drank from it, she studied the crowd.
"Looking for somebody?" Dana asked.
June looked faintly embarrassed, but nodded. "A guy asked me to play earlier, but I needed a break."
"And now you're ready to take him up on his offer?"
"Well...yeah," June admitted.
"Dana!" a woman's voice called out, catching Dana's attention. "You aren't leaving, are you?"
Dana watched Joan emerge from amongst the pile of bodies on the bed just a few feet away, sitting up to meet her gaze. "What?" Dana asked.
Joan pointed. "You have your bag with you, and you're lurking near the door. You aren't leaving yet, are you?"
Caught by surprise, Dana dissembled. "I don't know. Maybe."
Joan frowned, clearly disappointed in her response. She struggled free of the crowd and climbed off the bed to stand before Dana. She was naked, of course, flushed and slightly damp, her short gray hair mussed. She'd clearly been having fun. "Why?"
Dana shrugged, and she gestured vaguely at the crowd. "I just...it's so crowded. I don't..."
I don't feel sexy.
"You don't really want to leave," Joan said.
"I don't?"
