The Adventure
A young couple was spending the weekends camping and hiking to get away from the city grind, This weekend they were along the shores of Port Lavaca, Texas where they decided to go out on the water for the day. Dave, thinking he was a master sailor declined any help with the boat or instructions for its operation.
Linda had questioned him several times about needing help, but they were young and newlyweds and Dave was as stubborn as they come while he was still trying to prove himself to Linda, which she did not need but again he was trying his best to be macho and in control.
After several hours of looking at reefs and aquatic life it was time to head back in but the engine quit and the boat was just drifting out further from the shoreline. Linda was a little worried but did her best not to show it. The boat swayed with the waves and fortunately the boat was large enough to stay up right.
After about 6 hours adrift and temperatures falling as evening set in, the temp on the boat was about as high as it could get. Linda was cold and frustrated and Dave had tried everything he could think of to get the boat started with no luck. A fishing boat came over the horizon and approached the boat. A young man ask if they need help and as Linda started to answer, Dave cut her off and said no. Linda just glared at him and the disgust on her face was very visible. The young man started his boat and went to speed off when Linda yelled at him.
The young man stopped and Linda and Dave realized that there was three on the boat, not just the one young guy. Linda was only in her bikini so Dave was very protective but Linda wanted the help so she took charge and invited the men onto the boat. The men came onboard and they all checked out Linda as they moved to try and fix the boat with no luck.
The first young man, Bob, offered to tow the boat back to shore for a price, but Dave was still not a happy camper as they say. Linda told Bob thank you and she was introduced to Rick and JR by Bob. They hooked up the boat and began to tow it to shore but it was a different area from where they started. Dave began getting worried as Bob was standing close to her as he piloted the boat back to shore in tow.
As they arrived at shore and tied the boat off Dave was really being rude and argumentative towards the men that helped him. Finally Bob grabbed Dave and shook him yelling why cant you be a little polite and just thankful that they got towed in. Dave just stepped back a bit and swung at Bob hitting him in the jaw. Bob hit Dave with his full force and Dave went down. Linda was now scared but also knew that Dave deserved it.
The men carried Dave off the boat and walked him to a local bar. Dave was placed in a booth and Linda crawled in next to him. The men were very polite and never made an out of line comment except for putting Dave down for the count. As Dave woke up he saw Linda on the dancefloor with JR and she was wearing a large t-shirt. Bob told Dave that he was sorry for hitting him and that one of the guys had bought a shirt for Linda to wear so she did not feel bad about dancing and being with the men.
Dave sat up and wiped his eyes, JR and Linda hugged momentarily when the song ended, Dave was enraged and acted as stupid as you can imagine yelling out so you think you are going to fuck her too. Bob just started at Dave with disbelief and looked at Linda who was walking to the table. Linda looked at Dave and ask him what the hell was wrong with him. Dave just started yelling and making a scene. The bar owner ask them all to leave. Linda looked at Bob and ask if there was someplace they could go to settle the bill for the tow. Bob looked a little lost but said sure they had a room next door at the hotel.
The group walked to the hotel and everybody other than Dave was laughing and joking around, Dave was still talking crap and Linda was embarrassed beyond belief. When they got into the room Linda looked at Dave and ask him if he still wanted to be married in the morning and Dave said yes and Linda told him to sit down and shut up.
