An Unexpected Game of Cards
Author's Note: There isn't much plot here, but it's my first story and I'm working through how to (hopefully) tell an entertaining, if maybe unrealistic story.
It was a small get together that Mike and Sylvia were hosting for eight of their closest friends. Six ladies and four guys made up the group, mostly all in their early 40's. For once there were no kids. The kids were all at a school camping trip and it was time for everyone to enjoy themselves without the constant nagging and whining. A typical SoCal group, everyone was relatively fit and took care of themselves. Mike and Sylvia worked out enough to stay in shape, but he was fighting to keep his waist trim. Mike was just shy of 6 foot, originally well-built but his once well-defined musculature was slowly getting soft. Sylvia was one of the taller women in the group at around 5'8" and she kept herself in better shape than her husband. In Mike's mind, she had a right-sized chest, not too big, not too small and still perky despite being almost 43.
Don and Sheryl were their next-door neighbors and best friends. He was a couple of inches shorter than Mike, had a small pot belly and was balding. He was one of the more outgoing in their group and could always make everyone crack up with his incessant joking. Sheryl was busty and plump in all the right places, filling out her clothes in a very pleasing fashion. This night she was in a pleated skirt that fell just below her knees. Her white blouse strained at the seams to hold her assets and she had a revealing bit of cleavage showing.
Nina and Brett lived down the street. Nina was the youngest at 36 and was also the tiniest, barely reaching five foot, a strong contrast to her 5'10" husband.
They all hung out around the large kitchen island, the guys had a few beers and the ladies killed a couple bottles of wine. A couple of joints had been passed around and everyone was feeling relaxed. The talk turned a bit risquΓ© as it often did in the group. Kim, who was currently single, had a dirty mouth and was again the first to bring down the level of conversation.
"I haven't gotten laid in months! Where'd all the good lookin' bachelor's go?"
Sheryl looked shocked, "Kim!"
"What? It's the truth and I'm getting tired of having to rub one out on my own!"
Linda laughed. "Truth! If someone can find a good single man, please send 'em my way! Although I'm surprised you're not beating off the guys that'r drawn to your...assets." Linda was the other single lady in the group and she was occasionally self-conscious about her almost flat chest and was slightly jealous over Kim's rather large breasts. This night she was wearing a pair of khaki shorts and loose blue blouse.
Don and Mike smirked at each other across the table. Don looked at his wife, Sheryl, "Well if you can get her to agree, I can help you out with any 'needs'."
"Go ahead buster," said Sheryl, "but if you touch her, I'll be cutting you short." She mimed holding something and pruning it away.
Don winced as everyone laughed.
The night continued and everyone was feeling well lubricated. The conversations bounced around throughout the night as they will and Kim could be counted for the occasional lewd comment, but it was Don who started everything.
"Mike, what happened to us? Not too long ago these parties were a lot wilder. Where's the keg in the corner? You remember that Jim and Brittany would always end up in a corner making out?"
Everyone's eyes turned to Jim and Brittany. She had the good graces to blush but he just smiled broadly, "What can I say? She was my high school crush and I can never get enough of her!" He finished by leaning over and kissing Brittany. Jim was tall, good looking and had a three-day growth of stubble. Brittany was slim, fit and wearing a tight pair of yoga pants that showed off a tight, shapely ass.
Mike nodded, "Yeah, and the games we'd play! Quarters, beer pong..."
"Never Have I Ever!" piped up Linda.
Sheryl added, "Truth or dare!"
"Spin the bottle!"
"Ooh Sylvia, that was always your favorite, wasn't it?" asked Mike.
"It was! Those were some fun times. What did happen?"
Brett shrugged, "We got older and got married. Had kids. Got respectable. Kept on a leash." Nina, his wife, slapped his shoulder.
"Some dogs need to be kenneled! But...I did like those games."
Mike nodded, "They were fun and added some spice to those parties! That's how I kissed Sylvia for the first time and then eventually got the nerve to ask her out."
Linda smiled, "That's right, you guys have been together since college. How about we spice up this party?"
"You mean like beer pong?" asked Sheryl.
"No, like truth or dare or spin the bottle. Something exciting, maybe a bit naughty."
There were some shocked expressions around the table.
"Um, most of us are married Linda."
"I know Nina, but a little spicy fun won't hurt anyone. You're all secure and happy in your marriages, right?"
There were some nods and thoughtful looks.
Mike spread his hands, "Well, I have do have this pack of Dare cards. Some of them are a bit naughty."
"Dare cards? What're those?"
"They are a bit of a cross between spin the bottle and truth or dare."
"Mike, do I want to know what you're doing with Dare cards?" Sylvia gave him a very inquiring look.
"Nope! They were on sale on Amazon, 5 stars, had to get them."
Nina gave Mike a look of disbelief, but smiled and said, "I'm in!"
Jim pipped in, "That's my line!" Everyone burst out laughing as Brittany's faced turned an interesting shade of red and then slapped her husband on the arm.
She worked through the embarrassment, "Well, I'm in too." She shot everyone a look of defiance and the implicit challenge in her eyes made everyone pause.
"Well, if she's going to do it, I'll do it too!" Mike thought everyone was surprised at Sheryl's remark, but most of all her husband Don.
"If she's in, I guess I gotta do it too." Mike went to fetch the cards, which were elaborately decorated on the top, and he showed them to everyone.
Mike looked around, "Anyone else? No spectators allowed. If you're not playing, no more beer or wine and you have to leave." Lots of boos greeted this pronouncement, but it worked and everyone else agreed to play. "Ok," he continued, "what happens tonight doesn't get mentioned afterwards. No phones, no pictures!"
He gestured everyone to proceed him into the living room with its deep shag carpet. "Ok, everybody sit in a circle." Mike sat down and Sylvia sat down to his right. To his left sat Linda. Next to her were Brittany and Jim. Brett and Nina were next to them, which put them across the circle from Mike and Sylvia. Kim, then Sheryl and Don completed the circle.
"Hey Mike, can I see the cards?"
He looked at Linda, "Nope, no spoiling each card's surprise." He brought out a Stone Brewing beer bottle, "Whoever's up spins the bottle and the person that the bottle points to gets to do the dare. I'll draw a card and read it. That person has to do what the card says. If you fail to do it, then you're banished from the room and cut off from the beer and wine. And then no more Scotch for you Brett!"
Everyone sat or knelt in the circle on the floor and waited expectantly. Sheryl had to carefully arrange her skirt to avoid flashing everyone as she sat, but despite her best efforts her skirt pulled well up her thighs. Mike continued, "Nina, as you are the youngest, you spin first. It has to make at least one full revolution or the person to your right gets to spin. Whoever the bottle points to gets the first dare. Once they've successfully completed their dare, they get to spin the bottle." Everyone nodded in understanding and held their breath as Nina spun the bottle. It went around several times and then slowly stopped, coming to rest in front of Sheryl.
She stared at the bottle, coloring slightly, but took a breath and looked up at Mike, "Ok Mike, give it to me!"
Mike reached out and drew the first card, "Pick someone of the opposite sex and give them a kiss."
Sheryl sighed in relief, "Don!" She leaned over and gave him a quick peck on the mouth.
"Well, that was anti-climactic! She got to kiss her hubby!" exclaimed Sylvia. She punched Mike on the arm, "I thought you said these were naughty!"
"Oh, my gawd Mike! That was fuckin' weak!"
Mike gave Sylvia and Kim a dark look. "Well, that's what the package said! They start easy and slowly ramp up the naughtiness. I haven't actually read any of them...."
"Great...well Sheryl, go ahead and give it a spin, hopefully the next card is better!" Sheryl reached out and gave the bottle an expert spin. It swung around and eventually landed on Jim. He looked at Mike in expectation.
"Kiss someone, not your partner, for 30 seconds." Mike looked up, "Well, I guess we need an official timekeeper. Would someone mind helping out?"
Linda nodded, "I'll do it. Ready Jim? Go!"
