Back in 87 I was a Drummer in a Southern Rock band in Siuth Florida. Our lead Guitarist needed shoulder surgery so we took a two month break my wife was out of town for two weeks of training for work so I didn't have a lot going on.
So a friend who was a Drummer in a Glam Band called me on a Wednesday morning and told me his mother was ill and he needed to leave right away for Indiana and asked if I could cover a10 day Spring Break gig at a club on Ft. Lauderdale Beach for him. I told him it was no problem I was glad to help out. Then he asked "Man you know we're a Glam Band, would tou be ok keeping yp the Glam look?
I said "sure man don't worry I'll do yo proud " and wished his mom well.
So Friday morning I met with his Bandmates ar the club for an intense 3 hour rehearsal to get comfortable with each orher and it went really well. As I was leaving their Frontman called out to me "Hey don't forget to glam it up."
So after my usual routine of grooming I put cked out a tight white Wife Beater shirt Super tight Black Spandex pants 3 inch black Stiletto ankle boots and a 2 inch wide white loose fitting belt and a pink bandanna to tie around my left ankle ( an 80's thing) and my favorite pink panties.
I teased out my long hand used about half a can of hair spray. Put on a light layer of eye liner and finished the look with a long feathery earring. I was as close to being En Femme and still maintaining a male personna.
When I got to the club I seemed to fit right in with the overall look of the band.
The first 2 sets went really well, not my style of music but the place was standing room only and the Spring Breakers seemed to be really enjoying themselves I was mingling with the crowd when a waitress tracked me down and gave me a drink and pointed to a guy standing at the back wall and told me it was from him. I looked his way and he raised his glass to me and I to him.
He looked very out of place among the crowd as most were dressed in shorts and bikini tops and most were in their early 20's. However he was roughly 40 and dressed in nice jeans a pastel tee shirt with a nice sport coat and very handsome. I was intrigued so I made my way over to him.
He introduced himself as Rob and I thanked him for the drink. He complimented me on my playing and said he was really enjoying watching me play, but the way he said it made me tingle as I knew he wasn't just talking about my musical abilities. I thanked him and told him I was sitting in for a friend and this was the first time I'd ever dressed like this for a gig especially the heels. He said "The way you walk so comfortably in them I never would've guessed it was your first time.
