So, I've told a true story before, with the story entitled 'A Taste Of India'. What follows is another mostly true story.
Back in 2002, I travelled to Prague as part of a stag party for my best friend Simon, and eight of his university friends. Being the only gay guy on the trip, on a stag do where everyone except me and the stag seemed intent on getting laid, made things a little awkward. I didn't really know any of the other guys, and Simon, the stag, hadn't let on that I was gay. It wasn't a problem, but equally it wasn't relevant.
Anyway, what goes on during a weekend stag party is all pretty obvious, and this stag do was no exception. So by the end of day one, we had ended up, having been drinking since 7.00am in Birmingham airport, getting ourselves ejected from a cellar bar in Wenceslas Square for getting too touchy feely with the hostesses (meaning not being prepared to pay for it! Not me incidentally). The best man, who was worse than useless, had disappeared on his own and I had drawn the short straw of taking Simon back to the hotel at 10.30 and putting him to bed. At which point, I still needed more drink!
Having wandered across the road to an all night bar, I had found myself chatting up the most stunning looking Russian barman called Vitali. Jet black hair, 6 feet tall and the perfect twink frame. I really thought I was getting somewhere, but he had nobody to cover the bar, so we couldn't follow up on what had turned out to be a very horny conversation.
When I finally decided to head for my bed, around 3.00am, he followed me outside and touched me on the shoulder before I walked away.
"Tomorrow, I finish at 11.00" he said, in his beautiful Russian accent. "If you come here again, I will be in bar. Maybe we go upstairs to my room?" He winked and smiled.
"I will try," I said, ""but I can't promise. It'll depend on my friends. But I will try."
So the next night, after an all day in and around Prague, and a decent amount of alcohol, the day ended similarly with me putting a very pissed Simon to bed and making my way across the road, just before midnight.
