Mykal had been working at 5th Dimension for over a year, he primarily answered the phones and helped with commissions and he never really had to travel for work. He didn't much like the idea of leaving Aspen at home alone, even if they lived in a 'safe' area--but sometimes you have to do things you'd prefer not to if you want to make money. Of course, he didn't really think William was going to fire him for saying no to going out of state with him for a three-day assignment where they'd be meeting a client and setting up for them to begin working on their new business logo.
It was an opportunity he couldn't really pass up given that he wanted to go into graphic design, and the two-thousand-dollar bonus was definitely a benefit to him. Aspen hadn't been entirely thrilled about the whole thing, but he had accepted it regardless. It was a difficult decision all around, but necessary in the grand scheme of things. Money wasn't limitless, and the housing market's prices would only keep rising--the sooner he could accumulate the most amount of money, the better. If he bought a house, he could get Aspen a dog to keep him company around the house while he worked, they'd not have to worry about annoying neighbors or noise complaints--they had nine, now.
The man who lived above them seemed to have some vendetta against them and had called management on the over twenty times--but only eight resulted in noise complaints. The man called every time someone walked a little too heavy-footed on the floor or dropped something, going off about how 'disrespectful' the youth was and ranting about how they needed to get girlfriends so they'd stop tripping over 'messes'--apparently, because Mykal didn't float above the fucking ground like a god, their house had to be messy. The whole thing had become so much more trouble than it was really worth. The old man could suck his dick, he started stomping around in work boots all night just to spite the fucker. The final noise complaint was less bullshit--he'd been fucking Aspen on the counter and Aspen knocked the wooden chopping block off of the counter and the sound resonated through the whole apartment. That, he could understand. Footsteps, showers, and phantom music he wasn't even playing he couldn't understand.
The cold war between him and the neighbor was another reason why leaving Aspen alone at home bothered him. He didn't think the old bastard would fuck with Aspen, but at the same time, Aspen was an easy target and the old man just seemed to want someone to bother and berate. Mykal could easily give him snide, sarcastic comments like "Don't let being an old bastard get ya down. It's too hard for ya to get back up, and I don't like ya enough to help." It always manages to shut him up, but Aspen is way too nice to people.
"You seem to be lost in thought tonight." William said, bringing Mykal's attention away from the plane window he'd been staring out of for an hour. Mykal shrugged and shifted around, turning his attention to William fully instead of thinking. He was already on his way home now, it doesn't matter. He'd just talked to Aspen before he'd boarded, promising to see him in a few hours when he got home. "Is there something on your mind in particular?"
His mind was on Aspen, mainly. He had more than just a vague idea what Aspen wanted from him when he got home thanks to their phone call before he'd boarded the plane. The beginning of the conversation was just Aspen rattling off about his classes and how tired he was--but the ending had painted a clear enough picture in his head. I-I will b-be pre-prepared for y-you, Alpha. Aspen always sounded so cute when he said things that embarrassed him, he gradually speeds up his speech towards the end of his sentences in an attempt to prevent himself from stuttering but it ends up slurring his words together a little. Aspen wanted him to wake him up with his dick, and it didn't actually sound like the worst idea he'd heard. Aspen wanted free-use, and Mykal definitely wouldn't complain, but he'd put limitations on it.
Aspen had things he has to say to signal when he wants something like for him to wake him up with his dick. He'd been careful with the phrasing of them--he didn't want to take the fantasy away from Aspen, he just wanted to make sure Aspen was okay. Somnophilia was somewhat a part of consensual non-consent--and Mykal felt strongly that Aspen needed to signal to him that he wanted it. Aspen was so important to him, even if Aspen had previously told him 'yes, I'm fine with you waking me up to you fucking me' he couldn't take the risk of miscalculating and damaging their relationship. It was a compromise they both made, and whenever Aspen wants him to 'surprise' him, he'll say 'I'll be prepared for you, Alpha.' It was something that was vague enough that it didn't break the quote on quote 'fourth wall' while also getting his point across. It was worded in a way that Aspen would never intentionally word something--it was meant to be solely used for the one purpose after all. Aspen typically said 'I'll be waiting' or 'see you soon' or even 'I'll be ready' but not 'prepared'. It was perfect.
"How do ya do it?" Mykal asked instead of divulging the question entirely, and William raised an eyebrow in question. "Travel all the time, I mean." William hummed a bit and reached for his glass of bourbon, the ice clinking against the side of the glass loudly. It wasn't like he could just start talking about the intimate details of his relationship with William, he was his boss, and dating his best friend. It'd be awkward.
"I have a pretty little thing waiting at home for me who really likes to shop." William said with a little smile, taking a drink of the whiskey in his glass. Mykal chuckled a little as Aspen flashed through his head, he could kind of see that. It was why he was there--well kind of. Different situations, he guessed. "I can't get lazy now that I actually have something worth spending money on," He laughed a bit and shook his head, eyes lit up with amusement. Mykal sighed a little. "In all seriousness, though, it's never easy to leave Cam behind. It doesn't get easier, but you get used to it. It makes me even more motivated to finish my work so I can try to leave sooner." William said.
