"In a minute!" I shouted, hoping that the person knocking at my door heard me. Who shows up at someone's door, unannounced at 10 in the morning, on a Saturday at that too?
I barely get any free time nowadays with juggling a part-time job and college. It's either work, study, or sleep. The one time that I get a nice long day to myself, my sleep gets to be interrupted. I pass by my bedroom mirror on the way to the hall. I did a quick glance at how I looked. Still the same, I thought. I sighed. Wishing I was a little bit taller, maybe a little bit buffer too. Being short and lanky isn't something I hoped to be back when I was growing up. Well, maybe there's still time for me, I'm only 18 anyway. I still have a couple of years of "growing up" to do.
I reached the door, sighed again, and opened it. The surprise must have been evident on my face.
"I'm sorry for coming over unannounced, Raffy. May I come in?" Prof. Wright said.
Dressed in a white crew neck shirt and black jeans with white sneakers, was one of my college professors. I can't help but admire how he looked wearing casual clothes. Gone is the usual ensemble of smart casual clothing he typically wore in class.
I stepped aside and let him through. I led him to the living room. Offering a spot on the sofa, we both sat right beside each other. Thinking what my science professor could be doing inside my apartment, in my barren living room, on my old sofa. I can't help but wonder if he started reconsidering my offer.
"I've been thinking about your offer." He said, not meeting my eye. Ever since he came in he couldn't quite make eye contact with me. Sitting down, It was my turn to break eye contact, I can't help but notice how tight his jeans were and how they ride up his legs, highlighting the bulge that his pants were doing very little to conceal.
"Thank you so much! Your class was the only course that I was having trouble with maintaining a high grade. It doesn't have to be much, Professor. Just something to ensure that I can still get an A." Relief washed over me. Securing an A in his class would make sure that I would keep getting help from my parents. I definitely wouldn't be able to afford an apartment by myself with just my salary alone.
"Yeah about that, I would like to discuss it further, but uhm..." He said trailing off. He's usually so sure of himself whenever he talked, him being at a loss for words was something I'm not used to.
"Yes? But what?" I said, inching closer to him.
"Did you have to answer the door wearing just that?" He said pointing at my clothes. I didn't understand what he was talking about until I looked down at what I was wearing. A wave of embarrassment flooded over me as I finally realized what he was talking about. I answered the door wearing just my old blue t-shirt and my skimpy black briefs. Cursing myself, I stood up and started to run back to my room but he grabbed my hand, stopping me.
"Wait, where are you going? Changing?" He said
I nodded, too ashamed to talk.
"No, don't. Sit with me, please. I didn't mean to embarrass you, I'm sorry." His grip was intense. He led me back to the sofa, where we were sitting side by side.
"Look, Raffy, you look amazing, don't worry about getting dressed up for me." Smiling, he loosened his hold on my hand and placed his on my bare thigh.
"I was surprised, sure, but the sight of you is too beautiful to be covered up. Please, stay."
"Okay, Professor," I said, finally finding my voice through the flood of embarrassment, shame, and maybe flattery.
