This one has a bit of drama but I hope I make up for it...
The third day, I was up in the early morning and enjoying the pool. It was way too early for anyone else to be up and running so I'd taken it as an opportunity to enjoy the water without being stared at.
I sighed when I heard someone approaching.
I looked at the steps and saw Dean's head coming up, then the rest of his body of course. I wasn't too upset about it being him.
"Dean," I called out as he approached. He was dressed in only shorts, his lightly hairy body ready to feel the water too.
"Hey..." he said. He tried to remember my name, "Ricky."
"Right," I gave him a thumbs up. We'd hung out as dates for Grace and Frank, but never got a chance to mingle ourselves. I knew the forgetting my name was just a gag but I didn't give it my attention. He had been in great shape the whole time that I'd known him, probably a former jock. He was well built, but not over the top with the muscles, just enough for one to know that he worked out.
"Why are you up so early?" he asked as he dipped into the pool, his abs and muscled chest disappearing from view.
Dean was alright. He wasn't uptight as the blood members of this family, so of course it was weird that he hadn't run as fast as he could when the flames between him and Grace fizzled out. Weird and suspicious, but not enough to get me to care enough to snoop around.
"I was just wondering the same about you," I replied.
"Sleepless. Just needed some fresh air," he said as he ran his hand through his blonde buzz cut. It was a new and unusual look for him, but it somehow went well with his light facial hair.
"Yep," I said, closing my eyes and enjoying the water.
"Everyone is always looking at you," he said after a while, "are you alright with that?"
Of course I wasn't. Especially since they all did it so shamelessly.
"Of course not, but then I've always been told I'm really hot so... It's not much of a surprise," I joked nonchalantly. He giggled at the utterance.
"You handle it pretty well," he said. We didn't exchange any more words for a while, until I spoke up.
"How did you get here?"
"Huh?"
"I thought you and Grace had split, how did she find you?" I asked. He chuckled again.
"I'm not hard to find. Who told you?"
I laughed too.
"Well, I sort of figured it out myself actually," I lied. They already didn't love each other, I didn't want to make it worse, although it was quite obvious that she would've told someone. That someone would have most definitely been Frank, since they were the closest.
Dean raised his brow. Frank had developed a habit of calling him dense during most of his stories, so I assumed he was just shocked by how smart I was.
"You can always tell when someone is single just by the way they look," I said. Now he was actually interested and wanting me to say more. I didn't actually have much else to say so I had to improvise.
"Like, little movements you know."
He nodded enthusiastically.
"Like, just try to notice how someone who says they're single acts, then look at someone who's in a relationship, there are very minor differences but you'll always find them."
I was completely bullshitting him and talking in circles, but he was eating it up.
"Like me for example, I'm single, so try to notice how I act."
There was visible confusion in his face.
"You're single?"
"Umm... Yes."
He wasn't buying it, and I panicked a little.
"Really? I thought you and Frank had a thing going," he said with a naughty "busted" look in his face. I stammered as I thought of what to say but ultimately just shook my head in denial, just to pull his leg.
"I wasn't gonna bring this up but I saw you two fucking out at the dining area. Twice actually," he said raising two fingers. I'd gone too far with my gag, and now my eyes were wide as saucers and my brain in complete panic mode as I realized that someone had seen me and Frank Senior FUCKING. Words failed to form and my jaw could only drop to the floor.
"You see? You're not the only one with a good eye," he said to my horror.
"Though I do wonder why you don't just fuck inside your room since you sleep together. Do you guys have a thing for potentially dangerous situations or something?"
He thought I'd been fucking Frank Junior? How?
I didn't fucking care how as I was so fucking relieved that I started laughing. The two Franks had a notable difference between them, though I suppose it was dark and Dean's brain was wired differently, according to Frank.
"I uh, I... I... Yes... Sorry about that," I managed. I really didn't know what to say. He had a smug look on his face that said "I know your dirty little secret". He did, but not the worst one. I finally caught my breath.
"So what exactly did you see?" I ask, trying to sound calm and collected, while I was screaming inside.
His cheeks turned red, but I wasn't comfortable enough to enjoy the moment. Now it was his turn to stammer.
"Well, the first day I saw you guys making out," he said nervously. I couldn't believe he'd seen us more than once but hadn't actually noticed that he had the wrong guy in his mind, especially since we made out in the bright light.
He got more nervous at this point, because we both knew that the second day was actually raunchier than the first.
"The next day, a few hours ago actually, I saw him..." he paused, thinking of the perfect words to describe the scene.
"I saw him bending over at the balcony and you behind him."
Fuck... He really had seen everything. Why he had seen it though, I had no idea.
"I didn't stay to watch though," he said quickly before the thought even came into my mind.
"What were you doing outside?" I asked him.
