Chapter 1 - New Toy

'Are you sure this is safe?' Jordan asked.

'Of course, we've run plenty of tests,' Luke replied.

'Yeah, but none on actual people,' Jordan was beginning to sweat, unsure if he wanted to carry on with the experiment.

'That's why you're here, babe,' Luke kissed him on the cheek and went back to messing with some complicated-looking lab equipment.

Jordan looked around the lab that his boyfriend was the lead scientist in. It all went above his own head. He was a personal trainer so this was all foreign territory to him. His techy boyfriend was the nerdy one. There were tons of computers and equipment, which blinked and beeped, that he had no idea of their purpose. They had the whole lab to themselves so it was oddly eerie with just the two of them and all the fancy tech.

'Isn't it risky? Like to my health?'

'Stop worrying,' Luke stood in front of Jordan, who was seated on a gurney. 'You wanted bigger muscles, right?'

'Yeah... but it seems too good to be true,' Jordan was sceptical.

'This is top notch technology. Believe me, this is where the future of body modification is going. My team has been developing this for years. We've finally reached a stage where we're ready to test on humans. You're going to be my little guinea pig,' Luke smirked.

'So, how does it work?'

'We insert this chip into your wrist,' Luke held up a tiny grey cylinder that looked like a pill, 'which is linked to some software on my phone designed into a handy little app. Once we activate it, it will send micro-particles throughout your bloodstream and connect to your tissue, burrowing through to your muscles, skin and bones. Once those have all settled in, we just command the app to make specific changes to aspects of your body and the micro-particles do their work. Simple as that.'

Jordan's head was spinning. It was a lot for him to process and way too much technological jargon for him to follow. 'I only understood bits of that, but I guess that's why you're the genius,' he laughed.

'Nothing for you to worry about.'

'But, like... is it permanent? How do we get it out of my system?'

'Easy. We just command the micro-particles to return to the chip. They will burrow out of your muscles, skin and bones, back into your bloodstream and flow back into the chip and we take it out again. No harm done.'

'Hmmm, seems quite convenient. You've thought of everything.'

'Of course. I wouldn't want to put something on the market that was going to harm anyone. Especially not my babe,' Luke laughed and kissed his boyfriend.

Jordan was put at ease. Not only from his boyfriend's reassurance, but also from all the tech jargon -- surely something that complicated had to be up to snuff, right?

'Ok, all set?' Luke had finished all the prep work. The equipment was all ready: the computers were ready to track his vitals, the station was prepped for inserting of the micro-particles, the app was booted up and ready to go.

'As good a time as ever, I guess,' Jordan took a deep breath.

'Ok, you can disrobe and lie back on the bed.'

Jordan removed his robe down to his boxers and lay back on the bed. He had a lean muscular body, nice bit of body hair and a short beard.

'Relax,' Luke wiped his boyfriend's wrist.

Jordan looked up at the ceiling, breathing slowly to calm himself down.

Luke got a syringe to insert the chip into Jordan's wrist. 'Slight pinch, hold still.'

Jordan concentrated on a ceiling fan spinning, anything to keep his mind off the syringe.

'And we're done,' Luke announced, pressing a small fluff of cotton ball to prevent any bleeding.

'Oh, that's it?' Jordan was surprised. He had barely felt anything.

'Yup, all done,' he stuck a small plaster on Jordan's wrist.

'That was easy.'

'That was just step one. Now we activate it. Let me just check your vitals, all good,' Luke peered over his glasses at the screens.

Jordan couldn't decipher what any of it meant, but Luke nodded in affirmation.

'Ok, time to activate the micro-particles,' Luke pushed a few buttons and looked at the screens. There was a map of Jordan's body that tracked the tiny particles as they spread from his wrist down his arm and made their way to every part of him.

Jordan gulped at the sight. If it weren't for the display he'd never even know any of this was happening. It was seamless and he couldn't feel any of the micro-particles spreading throughout him. It was like some sort of magic. After a few minutes, the screen confirmed that the particles had completed their journey and were nestled throughout Jordan's body.

'How do you feel?' Luke asked.

'I'm good, it doesn't feel any different.'

'That's what I like to hear. So I think we're ready to have some fun,' Luke smirked. He held up his phone and opened the app. It confirmed the micro-particles were all activated and online, ready to receive commands.

The app was user-friendly, displaying various parts of the body -- forearms, biceps, shoulders, hands, calves, thighs, feet, torso, back, pecs, neck and even hair, teeth, eyes, lips, facial hair, ears, etc. There were commands to increase mass, decrease mass, change shape, change colour, make firmer, softer, control, make faster, slower. He could make the person taller, shorter, fatter, thinner, have longer hair, shorter hair, be hairy or smooth, simulate tattooed skin or even piercings.

There were an endless number of possibilities right at Luke's hand, and Jordan was the brand-new shiny toy. He was the blank canvas that Luke could do anything with. He was giddy with excitement, not knowing what to do first. It was going to be fun, for both of them, but especially Luke. He grinned at Jordan. 'Let's have some fun.'
