Living in a new city can be nerve wracking, but it can also be pretty exciting! It's important to know what the new city has so whenever I have time, I go out and sightsee. Yeah, I know, a little touristy but it's the best way to know the area you live in, you know?
And it certainly has its benefits! I found some awesome local restaurants and stores that you couldn't find in my hometown. There was this local coffee shop that had the best latte I have ever had. And it was close to my apartment! Instant regular.
Whenever I had slow days with work, I would head to the downtown area to look at the buildings and see what other businesses there are. I made sure to bring my camera (a photographer needs to be prepared) to take some pictures of the scenery. Especially at night, it's gorgeous. And it would look good in my portfolio, a bonus! Just to be safe, I would also take the camera's bag so I don't have to constantly be carrying it in my hands. (Or leave it somewhere, god forbid. That camera was pricey.)
Of course, there was another reason why I was out sightseeing. Remember when I said that this city was known for having a huge orc population? Well, it did not disappoint. Everywhere I walked, there were orcs no matter which direction I turned. Yes, there were a lot of other races in the area as well, but it's obvious that orcs were the more conspicuous ones here. Big, green, hunky orcs of all shapes and features. I felt like I was in orc paradise. There were also female orcs around (obviously) and, even though I'm not into women, they looked pretty good too.
The nightlife was something else. Nightclubs and bars were practically flashing themselves at you with how many there were. I bar hopped for a while just to see the atmosphere. Suffice to say, I'll DEFINITELY be going back to some of these.
As the night was winding down, I took the monorail. (I saw the parking prices there, I'd rather avoid that.) It was almost empty if not for another person (they looked like a beastman, feline I think) who had headphones on and keeping to themselves. I sat close to one of the doors and just enjoyed watching outside the window as it started moving again.
I knew it was a risk moving to another city that I knew nothing about (other than the orc population) but I'm pretty happy with how it's turning out. Yeah, I know, I'm mostly saying that because I'm getting some orc action, but this city is exactly my style. I found some amazing places to eat and hang out, got some good pictures to add to the file, who knows what else I can get.
After 10 minutes have passed, the monorail stopped again. I still had a couple more stops to go through before I get out so I just waited. I didn't expect anyone getting in (it WAS really late) but then I heard someone walking in. I turned around (I can't help but look) and saw the new passenger.
First thing I noticed, he's an orc. (Nice.) Second thing, he was wearing a suit. A nicely done, professional business suit. With a tie, fancy shoes, and everything. His black hair was in a slick back hairstyle, which went well with his trimmed beard. He looked muscular, but the suit was loose enough that I couldn't see how much, hiding his physique well. And the third thing, he was carrying a big suitcase. All in all, he looked like an everyday businessman.
He sat at the opposite side of me, placed his suitcase beside him, and gave a rather exhausted sigh. He hung his head back a little and dropped his shoulders, as if all of his energy left his body. If I had to guess, he was coming back from something work related.
I felt a little bad for him, honestly. Whatever his job was, it was enough to not only leave him drained, but also get out of work pretty late. (That is, assuming he immediately took the monorail after he got off work.) And it's a shame to just leave a handsome face like that.
"Long night?"
I took a risk. Depending on his reaction, I could either continue the conversation or leave him be. The ball was on his court.
He straightened his head and got a good look at me. I don't fault him for not having noticed me. Being tired could make you oblivious to your surroundings.
He fixed his posture a bit before giving me a sigh and a smile, "You could say that. I'm currently trying to sell a product to a shop that would be great for our business. I've been doing some overtime so I can make sure everything goes smoothly."
Ah, so he's a salesman. Good to know.
"Wow, what products are you selling?"
"In short, underwear. But the fabric we use is much more comfortable and elastic compared to our competitors."
Underwear, huh? Wasn't what I was expecting but I'm not complaining. I tend to lose underwear rather easily. (It may or may not be because they get destroyed when I have my orc sessions. I sometimes like it when they get ripped off of me, okay? It's hot!)
"Oh, alright! I take it the shop needs a little more convincing?"
He chuckled lightly at that, "They're a big company and they have people trying to sell to them all the time. So, I need to be resolute."
I hummed at that and gave a nod.
His eyes suddenly widened a bit and he shook his head, "Oh! I'm sorry! I should introduce myself! Gor, salesman for Pureign."
Pureign. I know that name. It's a company that's been growing pretty big these past couple of years. I have a couple of friends who use their products and they have nothing but good things to say about them. Didn't think I'd run into one of their employees in a monorail.
And his name is Gor. I know orcs tend to have rough sounding names but considering that he works in sales, I was not really expecting a name like Gor. (Suits him though.)
"Javier. Freelance photographer."
His eyebrows rose, "You're a photographer?"
I opened my bag and took out my camera. I often joked that it was my baby but considering how much I take care of it, it wouldn't be a complete lie.
Gor let out a hum, "Have to admit, I don't know much about photography or cameras, but that looks fancy. You were taking pictures around downtown?"
"Yeah. Would you like to see?"
He nodded and I went to sit beside him. He moved his suitcase to make room for me. As I sat, I noticed he had a faint smell of cologne on him. He probably put it on in the morning. It was a nice smell, like wood (different type of wood than I'm used to). Wonder how it smelled normally.
Making myself comfortable, I showed him the pictures I took.
While I did enjoy the nightlife like I said, I also made sure to take as many photos, especially if the places I visited looked absolutely stunning. Building showcasing a lot of colors, people who looked like models in their outfits, entertainers on the street doing neat tricks, you name it. (Thank God I managed to file away the more raunchy photos I've taken. That could have been trouble.)
Gor gave a light whistle as he was looking at the photos, "Now those look great. Maybe even better than the photographers we hired."
I giggled, "Please, you'll make me blush with compliments like that."
A light laugh escaped his lips, "I only say the truth."
An idea came into my mind. Didn't know how well it would go, but hey, I didn't get this far without taking chances.
"I may not have been hired by Pureign, but I would love to work with them in the future. I've heard a lot about you from friends and they can't recommend you enough. Is it possible for me to see the products myself?"
From what I heard, salesmen like it when people talk about their company positively. They believe in their products, after all. So, if I show interest in his company, maybe I can gain something from it. A new job opportunity, maybe some of their products, some alone time with a handsome orc like Gor, all the above, I'm not picky!
He hummed and rubbed his chin with his hand, clearly thinking. Several seconds passed and he turned to look at me again with a smile on his face.
"You know what? Sure, why not? I think you'd be a great fit for Pureign. I'm getting out on this next stop. Why don't you join me to my hotel room?"
I nodded my head and returned the smile, "I would love to."
The monorail stopped a couple minutes later and we both got off. He said his hotel was close to the monorail so it's be a few minutes of walking. He wasn't kidding. The hotel he was staying in was across the street, hard to miss. Especially with how glamorous it looked. Easily a five-star hotel. And it was HUGE. I'm talking "you have to crane your neck all the way back to look at the top and you STILL won't see it" huge.
We entered the hotel, which looked just as lavish inside as it did outside, and took the elevator. (And also hoping no one looked at us too much. I didn't feel like I belonged there with the way I was dressed.) I saw the number of the floor go higher and higher. If I didn't know any better, I would have thought we were going to hit the triple digits. (Thank God I don't have a fear of heights.)
Eventually, the elevator stopped on the 68th floor. I couldn't even think about that before the elevator doors opened and Gor walked out. There weren't that many rooms from the looks of it, at least compared to a floor with standard rooms. We walked until we arrived at the end of the hall, Gor took a key card out of his pocket and went to the door on the left. I heard an unlocking sound from the door and he opened it. As he entered, he held it open for me. I thanked him and looked around the room.
It was absolutely stunning. The walls, furniture, carpet,
everything
looked pristine. And it was
spacious
. We entered to the living room which was so well kept that I was afraid to touch anything, let alone sit. The extravagant lamps gave the room a nice hue for me to see every inch of the place and its glory. Gor decided to give me a little tour of his room. Farther in was the bedroom with a bed that almost looked like it was made of marble. Said bedroom even led to a balcony. A balcony big enough to have a couple of seats, some plants (which I didn't know if they were real), and a table. Oh, and it had a fantastic view of the city, of course. The last thing I saw was the restroom and, I have to say, if I had a restroom like this, I would never leave it. It was almost like a public restroom with how big it was, except not public or disgusting. (Though admittedly, does make the sex hotter. I can't explain it, it just does.) The design for it was luxurious and it had a giant shower and a hot tub.
There was no doubt about it, this was a deluxe room.
When we went back to the living room, I sat down on a massive sofa that had a couple of pillows and still looked around a bit. I've never been in a room like this before. It was like I was in another world.
"The life of a salesman sure is extravagant, huh?" I said in an amused tone.
He gave a soft laugh, "The perks of being in a successful company. I often go to many different locations because of my work. And my boss makes sure that I'm comfortable."
"By giving you one of the more expensive rooms? Didn't expect them to be that generous."
"Not all of them are like that, true. But my boss is different. He treats all his employees well. One of the many reasons I love working for this company. Even if I can be exhausted some days."
"But it's worth it, right?"
