This is my first attempt at writing having been a reader on Literotica for a couple of years. I have wondered if I have the ability to do this for some time. The story is partially inspired by a chat I had with a Canadian couple, who will remain anonymous.
My last relationship had sadly ended when my partner passed away after a long illness. I was not inclined to look for another partner as I was not sure whether I wanted to start another relationship emotionally. I felt I needed to take a break not thinking I was ready or capable of making the decisions that would be needed.
I had for many years had an interest in erotica and had read the works of Anais Nin in my youth. Like most young men I had come across many magazines of the 'playboy' ilk during my youth as they were surreptitiously passed from hand to hand at school then college and finally at my employers. I slowly grew out of reading them as I tentatively began to become more aware of the opposite sex. Despite my reading and picture viewing I would have to say that I was naΓ―ve in the aspects of real relationships.
I had been born as the eldest of three boys and educated in single sex schools all through my upbringing, and girls and then young women were a bit like a different species to me. My first real contacts with girls, apart from a couple of younger cousins, was when I took a job as a paperboy to earn some pocket money. Paperboy was a bit of a misnomer as to my surprise it was a role carried out by girls as well.
All of the other kids seemed to know each other and would always be chatting whilst waiting to do their rounds. It took me a while to gradually get to know everyone's names. I was happy talking to the boys as I was used to that at school but usually only smiled at the girls. It was when I was walking home one day that I bumped into a small group of some of the girls. As was their want they started to tease me laughing and joking with each other. I just smiled and tried to walk on by. As I did one of the girls moved a bit closer and walked along side of me.
'You're a bit on the shy side aren't you' she said. I wasn't sure what to say. She smiled at me then said 'it's alright....I don't bite'. Over the next few weeks she always made sure to talk to me as we passed each other doing our jobs. I became more relaxed and comfortable talking with the female sex. We went different ways in our lives and I never got the chance to thank her for the unknowing service she gave me in being able to talk with the females I would come across.
Anyway...I digress. With no current partner and no immediate desire to find one I satisfied my carnal needs by reading erotica online. I read across the spectrum of available stories and began to give information back by making my own comments on those stories and how I had found them. I tried to be constructive in my views and to try to praise good writing rather than criticize those I personally found wanting.
I gradually got to know some of the writers better and communicated directly with them. I was quite surprised when one of them asked me for a favour . Edward knew that I lived in the south west part of England. He said that the son of a friend and the son's girlfriend were flying to England to join the son's parents on a cruise around Europe. The boat was due to dock at Southampton and they were to meet each other at that point.
There was a small problem in that the flight they had arranged meant the young couple would arrive two days before the boat docked. They had managed to book into a small hotel near the coast but would have no transport to get about. Edward asked if I would be willing to show them some of the local attractions to keep them entertained. I said that as I had no commitments I would be happy to oblige.
James and Ruth turned out to be the names of the teenagers. They were both 19 and the trip was a reward for the both of them having obtained the qualifications to carry on with their education. I met them early on the first morning and took them on a tour of the local area and its attractions. They were both quite understandably shy at first, not surprising seeing that I was a complete stranger to them.
However after a few hours things relaxed and our conversation flowed easily. Every now and then as we walked about they would hold hands attentively but would let go if they noticed I was looking at them. It reminded me of my youth and learning how relationships were kindled. As I was returning them to their hotel they asked if it was possible to visit a local beach to enjoy the sunny weather and have a chance for a swim the following day. 'No problem' I replied and arranged to pick them up in the morning.
As I returned home my mind was wandering after having spent a relaxing day with people a lot younger than me. Did I react in the same way when I was younger and in the company of an older person? I just couldn't recall.
I called into reception at their hotel the following morning and as the staff phoned to let the youngsters know I was waiting I realized that they had been booked into separate rooms. I wondered if they had stayed in them. When they materialized I was surprised to be greeted with a hug from Ruth and a warm smile from James. I must have made a good impression the previous day.
I told them that I would take them to a sandy beach owned by the National Trust that had very safe swimming. It was only about a 20 minute drive away and as it was a normal work day it wouldn't be very crowded. We chatted comfortably on the journey as if we were old friends.
