Chapter One
My name Jason Saunders, at 18 I am the youngest of 4 children and the only boy. My Dad is Dave, he is a 6ft forty eight year old ex rugby player, who still looks fit enough to play but isn't and is now a very competitive golfer. Mum, Jacqueline is the same age as dad, but only 5ft 4in, they look like a bit of a little and large act when stood next to each other. They have been together since university, were they got married aged 21. She is a petit blonde with slim body, which she works hard at in the gym, just as my sisters do.
My three older sisters, bitch one Alexis and her understudy Maria are 23 year old twins, then we get daddies little princess, Louise aged 21. All three are blondes and single and take great delight at trying to drop me in it every chance they get.
We all live at home in our 5 bedroom detached house, which backs onto the local Hotel complex with its two golf courses, which my dad and I are members of, mum and the girls are members of the gym, pool/spa, tennis club, they don't play golf, but are fairly good tennis players.
Even I have to admit that the girls are all beautiful and don't they know it, they all look like long legged blonde models, at just about 6ft like dad, you can imagine how popular they are, never short of male companions, but they usually get dumped after a while as they are so full of themselves and far too demanding, so its not just me they annoy. I just try to avoid them as much as possible, so I am either at college, in my room or on the golf course.
Unfortunately I didn't inherit the height gene I am 5ft 8in, a bit on the podgy side, definitely not on the sporty side, I am a bit of a computer nerd and was always thought of as a swat and a loner at school, my only interests were playing computer games and golf.
I did have a girlfriends at school but never got any further than kissing, mainly my own fault as I was too scared to try, when I did try I got dumped as they said they were not like that, so the option I took was if at first you don't succeed give up.
Mum and Dad run the family property company, Dad with help from Louise take charge of the estate agency part, whilst the evil twins run the rental property side and mum is the accountant for both.
I am still at college doing a degree in computers, so I get to look after the computer side of things in the office, at the moment only if anything goes wrong, but eventually I am supposed to just join them and cover both sides and assist mum, not something I am looking forward to, unless my sisters attitudes change, which is about as likely as winning the lottery, when you don't buy a ticket.
To get out of the house and away from them, I even took a part time job at the golf club, which is really more of a country club, there is a pool/spa, a gymnasium, meeting rooms, the golf courses and 10 tennis courts and they have 50 bedrooms mainly used for the golf breaks, weddings functions etc.
I volunteered one weekend to help the chef/cook Jenny a nice lady about my mums age, married but with no kids, a bit on the plump side but she has a wicked sense of humour, they were really busy as someone hadn't turned up. I cleared the tables, stacked the dishwasher, took out meals, tidied up really whatever she asked I did it.
This soon turned into a parttime job, Friday and Saturday tea time from 5pm to 8pm and the odd Sunday Lunch 11 to 4. The money was good but so was the food, hence me being a bit on the podgy side, maybe if I spent sometime in the gym with mum, dad and the girls, instead of playing golf after college or even playing computer games, I would lose the weight, but I think I would rather stay as I am, far less hassle.
I had been there about 6 months when the hotel finally, after 3 years got its plans passed to expand, something all the members of both the golf club and gym etc never thought would happen.
The expansion involved linking the gym to the golf clubhouse, creating a wine bar come bistro, with a new kitchen area for both the golf club and gym to use on the ground floor, on the first floor was a function room with its own bar, plus an access glass walkway on both floors to the hotel.
According to the builders it would take around two to three months to complete. It ended up being 5 months, by that time I was in the last 2 months of doing my degree, I was finalising my last few assignments. I was spending more time in the kitchens that at college but it wasn't affecting my work.
I never really had much to do with the gym or hotel kitchens until the builders closed off the golf club kitchen in preparation for the merger with the gym kitchen and attach the link through to the hotel. If anyone wanted hot meals they were prepared in the restaurant, the gym kitchen did sandwiches, hot and cold, cakes etc. and then brought over to the golf lounge. Somehow I ended up helping the chef in the hotel part and Jenny took over the gym kitchens.
I had only been there about a month when the chef asked me if I had considered a job in catering, as he thought I showed some potential and they would be looking for more staff once the bistro was open, working 5 days but it would be 2 days off midweek so working every weekend.
He didn't want an answer there and then but asked me to get back to him the next time I was in, which wasn't until Friday four days later, so plenty of time to consider it.
Chapter Two [The Beginning]
During those four days I thought about nothing else, weighing up all the pros and cons, was it a waste of my degree, not true I could still do the office computers and keep my hand in. It would get me away from my sisters another pro, always working weekends a bit of a con, but as I rarely went out, not that much of one. I might get trained as a chef another pro, in the end the pros far out did the cons.
Next was the hard part, telling my parents, I decided to take the easier option and approach dad rather than mum. I went looking for him thankfully he was alone in lounge watching a football match, I asked him if he was busy as I needed a word with him, no not really he said as he paused the tv, so it wasn't even a live game. I explained what the chef had proposed and how I really fancied the idea, as it was something I enjoyed and he told me I was really good at.
I added I could still look after the firms computers, as it didn't take up a lot of my time anyway and as I would get a couple of flexible days off during the week, I couldn't see a problem, he seemed on board with the idea, nodding and adding at least I would still be using my degree and still helping the firm and should I decide I didn't want it as a full time job after all, it was something I could go back to and join the family business full time.
Then he surprised me by asking if it was just so I wasn't working with my sisters, I said partly, yes, by the look on his face, I think he already knew my it was mainly he just smiled again and said I can't blame you but I will not admit to saying that in front of them or your mother. Then he dropped the bombshell and his get out clause so you can go ahead for me but it really depends on your mother and told me to go and see her, I said gee thanks dad, he started the football again, don't even think he noticed the sarcastic way I thank him.
Unfortunately mum wasn't alone Louise was helping her in the kitchen, I didn't have an option but to go for it head on, mum I said, the chef has asked me to come full time at the club and I would like to do it as it was something I was good at and enjoyed.
What she exclaimed who is going take care of the computers and help me in the office, not even a what about your degree, just an extremely dirty look and a now your for it smile from Louise, I went on I can still do the computer stuff, I would have 2 days off during the week, so it shouldn't be a problem.
Louise still smiling said I like the idea, it would keep me away from me and getting under all their feet at work, mum ever the accountant just said it will also save us a wage. If that's what you want go for it, to say I was shocked doesn't do it justice. By the look on Louise's face she thought she had won yet again, but as far as I was concerned I was the winner.
Chapter Three [On the Job Training]
Chef seemed really pleased when I told him I would like to give it a try, I start my my first full time job, in what seemed like just days but it was over 3 weeks later, before I officially started.
