"Dammit."
Josh saw the line of blue exhaust smoke coming over the hill and knew it meant trouble. Annoying Annie was on her way over. Every day since she got that beat-up pick-up Annie drove the twenty miles of dirt road to his place, just to bug him.
Girls were so damn annoying.
Her old truck pulled up in a cloud of sputtering smoke. Annie jumped out dressed like a tomboy, wearing her usual baggy tee shirt and britches. "Joshy my truck's clucking like a chicken again. Could you fix it please?"
"Again?" Hey sighed. "Okay Annie pop the hood and let me look." The hood popped up. Josh grabbed a wrench and bent over the engine. Annie bent over right next to him, wiggling her little butt in the air.
Josh unbolted the air cleaner. "Gee something smells funny?"
Annie giggled. "Oh I bought some perfume 'Midnight Mango.' It cost a dollar, do you like it?"
"Um... I dunno." The girl rubbed her face against his so he could smell her perfume. Josh pulled away. "Dammit Annie don't do that...'cause it makes me feel all weird and tingly down there."
Annie's mouth dropped. "I declare Joshyโthat's the nicest thing you've ever said to me!" She peeked his cheek.
Josh grunted and went back to fixing the old truck. "Here's your problem Annie. Someone stuck a bobby pin in the carburetor."
".. oh gee." Annie grinned. "So what you wanna do now Joshy?"
"Go fishin'."
"No let's play the Spy Game. We haven't played that in ages."
"Nope Annie. I'm packing up my truck and going fishin'. That game is boring."
"It won't be boring this time. Let's play it again please? PLEASE!!"
Josh watched Annie jumping up and down like she had to go pee. Something about the jumping girl made his thingy jump too... Being home schooled all his life Josh didn't know much about girls, or what girls were good for.
"C'mon Joshy tie me to the tree." Annie held out the rope. "Let's play the Spy Game."
"Okay-okay we'll play one time. Then I have to go fishin'."
"Can I go fishing with you?"
