Cross Contamination Part 13: So Close, Yet So Far
"You've got this, Kissy," said Peter warmly, patting her on the shoulder. "Kelsey and I have your back. Next time we see you, you'll be a winner. Everyone in the school will know it. Renee Cross is going down!"
Cassie smiled back at him, feeling fortified by his confidence and enthusiasm.
But she was still a little nervous. She had talked a big game about defeating the cheerleader initiation and showing Renee that she wasn't afraid, but now that the day of the initiation had arrived, she couldn't help feeling a little anxious.
Cassie knew better than most how ingeniously creative and twisted her former friend could be. Submitting herself to whatever demeaning humiliation Renee could come up with was like putting her head in a lion's mouth. But that wasn't Cassie's chief concern. After all, the entire point of going through with the initiation was to show she could handle whatever the cruel queen of the high school could throw at her.
The bigger concern by far was the sexual fascination with Renee that Cassie had never managed to kick. Something about the sexy, mocha-skinned temptress turned Cassie on like a switch. That was what made her nervous. Renee knew how horny she could make Cassie, and she was smart and ruthless enough to take advantage of that fully in their little contest of wills today.
Cassie looked over Peter's shoulder to Kelsey, her once-lost, but now-reinstated best friend. Kelsy looked as cute as ever, with her slim, graceful body leaned back against her locker. But right now her big green eyes were stormy and her brows were slightly crinkled, the way they got when she was holding something back. Kelsey clearly shared some of the same worries Cassie had. Cassie felt a warm wave of affection for her oldest friend. Cassie blushed and shook her head, trying to fight down the sudden hot, sticky memory of kneeling between Kelsey's slender legs, slurping at her tight, juicy pussy. That had been a mistake, caused by Renee's perverse influence. They had both forgotten about it. She and Kelsey were normal friends now.
"It's going to be fine," said Cassie firmly over Peter's shoulder. Kelsey looked up into her eyes, startled. "I'm going to take everything Renee throws at me, and then we won't have to worry about her anymore. Everyone's finally going to realize she can be beaten."
Kelsey flashed her a weak smile. "Yeah. I know Kissy," she said with a good approximation of confidence. "Knock 'em dead." It was obvious that Kelsey was still a little worried, but reassuring her helped Cassie feel more confident.
Cassie straightened her shoulders, gripped her gym bag, and put on a determined smile. "Ok, guys," she said, nodding to her two best friends. "Thanks for all your help. Time to do this. I'll text you afterward to tell you how I kicked the wicked witch's ass."
She left her friends behind, turned on her heel, and headed for the gym, ready for the worst Renee could throw at her.
...
Kelsey watched Kissy stride confidently toward her doom, the smile sliding off her face as Kissy pushed open the door to the gym and passed out of sight.
Fuck. She knew she didn't have any choice, but that still didn't make it betraying her best friend any easier.
'Welp!" said Peter eagerly, rubbing his hands together with an eager smile. "So much for the easy part! Let's head to the boy's locker room."
"I know," snapped Kelsey irritably, sweeping past him down the hall. "You don't have to remind me. And you also don't have to be so fucking chipper about it. We're stabbing our friend in the back today, remember?"
Peter scoffed and hustled to catch up. "Well YOU don't have to be a bitch," he said sulkily. "Maybe I should tell Mistress Renee that your heart isn't in this..."
"Like she would give a fuck," said Kelsey wearily, pushing open the door to the boys' locker room and gesturing Peter inside. "She only cares if we do as we're told."
...
When Cassie entered the gym, the entire cheer squad was waiting for her.
They were all dressed in their game uniforms, hair perfect, makeup immaculate. The very image of flawless, dominant, popular femininity. In the center of the group stood Renee. Confident, sexy, and poised, with a faint look of amusement on her perfect face. Melissa stood at her side, an arrogant sneer on her lips.
If Renee was trying to make Cassie feel awkward and inferior with this little show of force, it worked. The entire squad watched her silently as she made her way across the gym floor, her shoes squeaking loudly in the silence.
Finally, she stood in front of Renee, nervous but defiant, feeling the eyes of the entire gorgeous cheerleading squad falling on her like a heavy weight.
"So you decided to come, Kissy," said Renee, her lips curving up into a mysterious smile. Cassie felt like she could fall into the wicked cheer captain's warm brown eyes. "I wasn't sure that you had the guts... but I'm glad you did." Cassie frowned. Daring to show up to her initiation was supposed to be a blow against Renee, but her gorgeous enemy was giving the strong impression that she was pleased to see Cassie.
Whatever. It was a bluff. Cassie pushed aside her moment of doubt and squared her shoulders. Renee might feel confident now, but that was only because she was underestimating Cassie's resolve. Renee would change her tune soon enough... once Cassie defeated the worst trials she could come up with.
"That's right," said Cassie, loud and clear, fixing Renee with a piercing gaze. "I'm ready to become a full cheerleader, as promised. Can we get started? I want to deal with whatever lame challenge you have planned as quickly as possible."
Renee's expression of smug delight didn't shift. The gorgeous, evil brat clearly didn't believe Cassie's bravado. Being this close to Renee again and holding her full attention was intoxicating. Cassie tried as hard as she could to not run her eyes down Renee's wickedly curvy body, drinking in her chest and hips, temptingly displayed by her cheerleader uniform. It was easy to hate Renee in the abstract. Sitting and thinking about what Renee had done to her, Cassie understood how Renee had pushed her further and further down paths that she didn't want to go. But it was a lot harder to remember that standing here, staring into Renee's captivating eyes, tracing the curves of her plump, pillowy, smirking lips...
