A Day at the Lake
One of the things Linda and I do what we have a chance on a nice summer day or even on those mild winter days we get here in California is go up to a lake in the foothills about twenty miles from town.
It has a boat ramp, picnic area, restrooms and a nice sandy beach near the main parking lot and, further away from the parking area and beach, areas where trees and vegetation comes almost to the waterline, hiking trails and, because of the lake's irregular shape, lots of little coves.
We're not boaters. To me, a boat is a hole in the water you throw money into. I do a little fishing from time to time, but I'm catch and release. When we want fish, there's a nice little seafood restaurant in town.
No, we go to the lake for a nice hike and because you never know what you're going to see, walking around up there.
This particular time, we were up there on a Saturday.
It's always...stimulating....for us to walk around the lake on a nice summer day. You've got your families in the picnic area near the beach, people swimming in the swimming area, people on the beach sunning, all kinds of bodies male and female, young and old, fit and not so fit. Out of all the people, there are always a couple of younger guys in their Speedos or board shorts and girls and women in revealing bikinis. As we walk along the shoreline, Linda frequently has a comment or two about some of the guys, and girls, we see.
We were on one of the hiking trails around the lake, away from the more public areas, I in shorts and a t-shirt and Linda in a sundress over a bikini, both of us in our walking shoes.
The hiking trails wind around through the trees and bushes and close to the shoreline in some areas and in some it comes down close to one of the more secluded coves that has a small sandy area at the water's edge.
