The Fire Escape
Chapter Two
It was a lovely sunny day & I decided to go out and take a look at the building the fire escape was attached to as it was literally no more than thirty or forty feet from my windows. I had on a light floral summer dress which I liked to wear a bit above the knee and flip flops. I always have my toenails painted to match my fingers incidentally, it's just a presentation thing I have. Today they were fire engine red. There was a light breeze blowing which felt lovely on my bare legs and arms. As I approached the front on the building a door opened on to the escape from the first floor of the side elevation. A man stepped out, almost immediately lit a cigarette and took a deep breath in. He expelled a large cloud of smoke and lent on the railing facing my windows. He was around my age I guessed & quite good looking as far as I could tell from my fleeting glance at him as he saw my pass and I think he checked me out. I was sure from the height he was at and short distance from my house, he could see into my living room, kitchen and the back bedroom without any difficulty at all. As that thought crossed my mind, I felt a rush of adrenaline in my gut and a huge tingling sensation between my legs. I knew there would be opportunities to show off my wares and be a naughty minx in future.
I carried on walking to the front of the building and looked up at the façade. It read 'Grovehill Social Club'. I walked up the path to the front door and opened it. A bell rang as I did so proclaiming my presence to anyone inside. Ten feet from the door was a dark wood reception desk, flanked on the left by large green felt covered notice board detailing up and coming events while on the right, a wide staircase led up to a pair of imposing doors. A late middle aged man with a shock of silver hair & heavy black rimmed glasses was behind the desk. Looking up, he greeted me with a warm smile and asked, 'Hiya Pet, what can we do for you today'? I smiled back and said that I had recently moved into the area and wondered what the building was. He went on to explain that Grovehill had been a mining community from the late Victorian to the early post World War Two periods and this had been a social club for miners and their families. 'We've managed to keep it going all these years with good management, keeping the drink prices sensible and mostly in moving with the times with regards to acts we book, we still get good crowds'. he proudly stated. 'I'm Joe Oliver, Social Secretary here'. 'Pleased to meet you Joe', I'm Linda as I shook the hand he had extended. 'Where do your acts perform, there doesn't seem to be much room'? 'Upstairs Hinny, would you like a little tour'? I nodded yes & Joe pointed the way up the wide stair case, indicating for me to go first.
