Kendra scrolled through Instagram. It was hard to pick a event to go to. It was a Saturday night and there were plenty of car meets to go to. One caught her eye. It was drift night at a nearby track. She quickly grabbed her keys as she ran out the door.
She slicked her blond hair back with her fingers as she drove to the meet spot. She could not, but wonder who would be there and what the racers looked like under their helmets. But then again, the sport was all in good fun. It wasn't actually a real competition.
She pulled into a damn near full parking lot in the back a track. Kendra pulls her keys out of the ignition only for someone to tap on her window.
"Hey you're in my spot ma'am," His tone was husky but gentle at the same time. She quickly rolled down her window and cleared her throat.
"Is this actually your spot?" She asked "There's no apparent assigned parking."
Kendra searched for his eyes but couldn't find them in the low overhead lights of the parking lot. He was already wearing his motocross, helmet and goggles. a glimmer of a nose ring caught her eye as she searched for a hint of a facial expression.
"I just like to be closer okay?" He shoves his hands in his pockets of his ripped up jeans. She blushes as she fumbles to put the keys back in the ignition.
"Yeah I can move no problem...um your name is?"
"Thank you miss. My name is Chris by the way. I hope you enjoy the rest of your night."
Chris walks away, leaving Kendra wanting to hear a bit more of his voice. She moved her car fairly quickly and in its place was a classic trans am.
As the event begins, she spots Chris again this time in the pit area. He was getting into another car. An older RX7.
She could now but stare at that bright blue car as he whipped it around the track.
She made her way out of the stands. And towards the pits as he ended his run. She walked up to him and smiled. Chris tilted his head a little as he got out of the car and looked at her. "Are you waiting for me doll?"
A chill went down her spine. "Y-yes, I was" In dim light or not, there was no way he was missing the blush on her face.
"Why don't you come with me? And we can just talk for a little bit?" Chris held out his hand and she took it without a second thought. He guided her back to the parking lot. And back to his trans am.
"Which car do you like better, this one? Or the RX7?" He leans up against the side of the car. And she positions herself so she can get a look at everything on him. He hadn't yet taken off his helmet. But he was wearing a gray T-shirt. And black pants and vans.
Kendra stood there for a moment, taking a breath in an attempt not to stutter. "Trans am, based off performance, RX7 because it matches your helmet."
"Impressive, I like you." Chris chuckles lightly.
Chris goes to remove his helmet only to get stopped by Kendra's hand. "Can you leave it on while we talk?"
He nods in agreement as he opens up the car door for Kendra to get in. She takes a seat and fixes her dress.
"What's your name ma'am, I never got it."
"My name is Kendra, It's very nice to meet you Chris," She smiles and he looks at her. The overhead light in the car shows his eyes ever so slightly.
