Chapter 4: Emily
Emily and him met four years ago. It was when Corantin entered the Young Gentlemen Royal Academy. It is as its name implied a school for young nobles with a peculiar tradition. Indeed, the academy is the preeminent proponent for sexual slavery in the country. Therefore, on top of educating young men, it took pride in training young women as slave maids. Maids expert in both day duty and night service. Theses girls where mostly gathered from the daughters of slave maids alumni that wished to follow in their mother footsteps. Then the cohorts were filled with volunteers willing to serve as slaves to escape their current life. Once all the new students were gathered at the academy. The boys where all given the opportunity to chose one girl, in the order of entrance exam ranking, creating master and maid pairs for the three years of education.
But the year Corantin entered the academy, a war was raging with the neighbouring Cydonia. It led to many northerners disappearing in enemy raids, including enough of the freshwomen to cause an inequality between the number of new men and women students. Even with a few missing spots being filled with reservists, the academy was still short one woman. To solve this issue, the faculty decided to admit a slave freshly brought from Cydonia to the academy reasoning that an apathetic partner would be a fitting punishment for a poorly performing student.
That woman was Emily, chosen by the academy when they learnt she had previously worked as a maid for a Cydonian household. However, something unexpected happened. Corantin had scored the highest at the entrance exam. Therefore, he was given the first choice and selected Emily. The professors tried to stop him. After all, a bad maid reflected poorly on her master. While the professor would not penalize for directing a poorly educated maid, it would impact him in other ways. An apathic maid would also reflect poorly on her master and could lead the man facing reclusion from the other students, it would endanger his grades on the paired subjects like sex class. And least of all outside the academy a deadweight servant would lead to condemn from other nobles. Despite the warnings of the professors, he did not modify his selection. He had been smitten by her.
Weeks passed, as classes started, Emily surprised everyone. She was quickly recognized as gifted. She quickly became the top of her classes except for the sexual education classes. While she showed to great enthusiasm in all the other subjects belying the professors' assumption. When it came to sex, she refused to participate, often having mental breakdown in the middle of sessions. Some of her classmates she became friends with became worried about her issues in service classes and tried to understand what was going on. Unfortunately, they could not get her to open, however they at least managed to get Emily to be slightly more comfortable at pleasuring her master during study.
Weeks turned into months, winter was coming to a close, heralding the end of their first year. During that time, Corantin tried all he could to get closer to Emily hoping she would at last open her heart to him.
One evening, Emily and Corantin were in his room. They had just come back from a formal reception. Corantin being from a town far from the capital, he did not like these stuffy gathering, especially since Corantin had grew up in a far-off region, he felt the distain of the capital residents. But he could not skip these frequent happenings because he needed the connections. To bury his hopes of escaping this torture, many of the academy teachers regularly attended them. The academy aimed at forming the future members of the kingdom high society; failure to partake in it would look bad on any student, especially an outstanding one like Corantin.
He had just removed his formal wear and was about to dismiss Emily so she could rest at the maid dorm. But looking at her he felt like something was off.
"Emily is something wrong?" he asked worried.
"No, mas... master, it's not... nothing," she answered trying to soothe him, but her voice breaking betrayed her.
"Come, sit, tell me what's wrong," said Corantin using a tone conveying he would not take no for an answer.
Emily nodded and sat on the nearby chair. As if Emily's will was only holding because she had to stay up. When she rested in the chair, her facade broke, and she started crying in a manner similar to what she underwent during sex practice in their early months together. Since nothing sexual had took place today, Corantin was bewildered as for why it was happening. He slowly walked towards the crying woman.
"Emily, won't you explain what's wrong?" he asked extending a hand to comfort her.
