We were chatting in the back of a yellow cab. I can't remember the specifics. I do remember not being able to take my eyes off of her beautiful legs. Earlier, I was sitting in an outdoor café waiting for her to show. Enjoying the fading light of the day, watching the world go by. Then there she was. I caught the vision of her a little over a block away.
I watched her standing on the corner waiting for the light to change. She was a vision. Dark hair, long. Long legs disappearing under a short flimsy sundress that was appropriate for the weather. She strutted towards me, turning heads with each step. Her attitude leading the way. Big kiss when she walked up and now we were headed to a cocktail bar.
Back in the cab I could not take my eyes off her gams. The flimsy sundress had ridden up and the fact that she was alternately crossing and uncrossing her legs only served to heighten the situation and my attention.
As the cab slowed to a stop in a semi-deserted part of Eldridge Street the driver said here were are. Paid the man who was having trouble keeping his own cheaters off of my gorgeous date. Standing in front of the completely innocuous door. Grey with just the number and no other markings. It was locked. There was a button which I assumed to be a bell but there was nothing to reassure me that it worked.
After a decent interval and a few bruised knuckles the door clicked. I missed it the first time. Seconds a charm. Pitch black entry way, took it on faith that there was a path through the heavy car wash type flaps hanging in front of the door.
