Donna Bryce came in the back door into the kitchen at Ann and William Jarrett's house. She was dressed sexily in a short skirt and low cut tight top. She was carrying a bottle of her and Ann's favorite wine. She and Ann had plans to have a few drinks and a romantic afternoon.
She was surprised to find William sitting at the bar having a cup of coffee. She said, "Hi, William. I didn't expect to see you here. Ann and I had plans. Is she here?"
"No. She went to her sister's."
"Oh. Is everything okay?"
"No. Nothing is okay. Sit down. I'd like to talk to you about something. Want a cup of coffee?"
"Yeah. Sure. What's up?"
William got her a cup of coffee. He jumped right in. "I know about her and Don. And you and Billy. I'm filing for divorce."
"Oh shit! I'm so sorry."
"I talked to Billy. I know the whole story. I got a text from him that was intended for Don. It said 'looking forward to screwing your mom again at spring break. And I'm sure you'll be doing my mom again'. I went to the school and got the whole story. How it all started with a bet and grew from there."
"Shit. Again, I'm sorry. But, what bet? I don't know anything about a bet."
"Really?" When she said no he explained. "Apparently Billy and Don were talking boy talk one day and both said how they thought the other one's mom was a MILF. They made a bet to see who could fuck the other's mom first."
"Holy shit! I did not know that. I actually find it pretty offensive. But I know I screwed up. That it never should have happened. And that I should have put a stop to it after the first time. I'm sure Ann feels the same."
"Yeah, that's what she said. And made bullshit excuses about me not being attentive. Well, not bullshit. I admit that's true. But still. She should have talked to me instead of screwing a young kid. God only knows who else she's been sleeping around with."
"Shit. What a mess. Billy told you everything?"
"Yeah, I guess. Why? Is there more?"
"No. No more. Just asking."
"I won't tell John. That's between you and him. I consider John a friend, but not close enough to stick my nose in his marriage."
"Thank you."
"So. You're dressed pretty sexily for an afternoon at the neighbor's. Were you two going out?"
"No. Just having a couple of glasses of wine and girl talk." She indicated the bottle of wine she had brought.
William looked at her wonderingly for a minute. Then realization seemed to come to him. "Oh fuck! You two were doing it, too! I thought you all had gotten a lot closer. And I saw her collection of toys upstairs once. Oh my God. What else don't I know?"
"William, I'm sorry. I don't know what to say."
"Just get out. Go home. I want to be alone."
She did go home. And proceeded to get drunk.
CHAPTER 2
Donna was worried that John was going to find out in the course of Ann and William's divorce. Not that her marriage was good, but she didn't know what she would do if he left her. She got pretty drunk worrying about it.
William had switched from coffee to scotch. He was getting pretty wasted, too. Sitting at home planning the divorce. And feeling sorry for himself. Being a lawyer he was planning how they would divide everything. When the doorbell rang he wondered who in the hell would be ringing the doorbell at 9:00 o'clock at night.
He was shocked to see Donna standing there when he opened the door. "I told you I wanted to be alone. Go home."
"William, I'm really sorry about everything. Please let me come in and explain. I need to talk."
"Okay. But make it quick."
Donna was still dressed as she was earlier, except she looked pretty drunk and her make-up was smeared. She asked if she could have a drink. William got her a scotch.
They sat down to talk. Donna explained that she really didn't know anything about the bet, and quite frankly was pretty angry about it. But, regardless, it never should have happened. That, being the adult, she should have said no. She explained how she and John had not had sex for a few years and when Billy showed her a little attention she lost control and gave in. She admitted that, in fact, she was the one who initiated it. So he shouldn't blame Billy. "And, yes, I enjoyed it. Too much. I wasn't thinking straight and just went with it. A few times. As far as Ann and I, that's on me, too. I always liked women as well as men. We were talking one day and when the talk turned to sex I got excited and made a move on her. She was reluctant but I persisted and she gave in."
"Donna, I don't care how it got started. I can't live with an adulteress. I have been faithful in our marriage and expected the same from her. And shame on you for seducing a young boy."
Donna was crying now. "I know I'm a horrible person. I've ruined your marriage, corrupted a young boy, and probably ruined my own marriage as well. I don't know what I'm going to do."
