When Vera abruptly left the kitchen after her embarrassment, Natasha and Lajos were taken aback but each had different reactions.
Natasha simply considered Vera's escape at face value in arriving at the obvious conclusion. Her mother, thinking Lajos did not know Russian, had uttered a saucy observation. When discovering that Lajos had understood her, it was understandable that her mother would want herself to become scarce. Natasha did not delve any further at the substance of Vera's remarks as it would be unproductive from her viewpoint. And she thought no further about her mother's departure as the impending sex with Lajos was now her uppermost thought in her mind.
Lajos, on the other hand, had truly mixed emotions. When he met Natasha that May night, he remembered vividly his overwhelming realization that she was the woman specifically meant for him. It was a realization not just simply a belief. It was revealed as an absolute truth to him as an absolutely certain truth as say when he learned 2 + 2 = 4. He had never had such a feeling before when attracted to a woman.
With his sex appeal, he was inundated with female admirers and he certainly had fucked more than his share of women. Because of his appeal he had the luxury of discriminating. It went without saying that he disdained unattractive women but he could also ignore the vacuous and empty headed ones as well. As a result his female companions were truly awesome women. Some of the women were very prominent as well so that his dates received constant attention in the high society and entertainment press.
Although known to the classical music world for his prowess in playing the piano, his prominent social life made him also somewhat known to the general public. His fame started snowballing. The more flashy women he dated; the more publicity he garnered; the more invitations to high society he received. In a relatively short time he became the ultimate jet setter and included in everyone's list of the most beautiful people of society in the world.
In that short time he had become jaded in his tastes for beautiful women. There was an underlining commonality in the women he dated that he found unsettling and he started to suffer ennui. It was the artificiality of his social life that was disillusioning him.
Yes he dated and fucked prominent and substantial women not bimbos. Still he could sense that these women were going through life with an agenda. They dated him because he suited their life goals and aspirations. His position in society is what made him attractive to them not any personal attributes, he might possess.
To be fair though his own rationale for dating the women he did date was for the same motive as theirs. They seemed to fulfill his criteria for a successful life. He also realized that he did not see any worthwhile personal attributes in them because he really wasn't looking for it. What was important was to be identified with them publically which would supplant any personal needs.
His sex life truly bought home to him the artificiality of his existence. All his dates without exception seemed to have a manual in their head listing all the dos and don'ts for sex. Consequently there was no spontaneity in the sex he experienced. Each of his dates seemed to have rigid guidelines of what they would do and won't do in sex; when and when not to have sex. They would adamantly refuse any sexual act they would deem inappropriate. They definitely would refuse to have sex at a time or circumstances they deemed inappropriate.
Thus the only variety he had in sex was the different set of standards each female possessed. For example one woman would refuse to perform fellatio but would not object to sodomy; whereas another woman would be the complete opposite in such tastes. One would allow cunnilingus another would not. The list goes on. In essence the main reason he dated so many different women was to find the right set of combinations and permutations of sexual likes and dislikes he could be content with.
What stoked his instant attraction to Natasha, when he was introduced to her that May, was his instinctive belief she was the sexual animal he had been seeking in a mate for himself.
In his subsequent brief conversation with Dieter that night, fortuitously for Lajos, the maestro let slip out that Natasha had two other lovers beside himself. This factoid reinforced in Lajos' mind that Natasha possessed the desired wantonness he found lacking in his lovers.
He also was well aware that Natasha had paid no attention to him but he took that as a sign that she was loyal. She may have other lovers but each of them gets her full attention when she is with them.
The sex with Natasha that afternoon in the recording studio confirmed the correctness of his initial infatuation with her. The event surpassed all his fantasies of exquisite sex.
The matter-of-fact way Natasha proposed sex was more brazen than he imagined in his wildest fantasy of how a sexual woman would act. Her absolute nonchalant demeanor in disengaging herself from him upon the culmination of the 69 oral sex activity to resume playing the violin in full view of Phil Newhouser astonished him. Oh yes he concluded Natasha was the woman for him.
But now he met her mother, Vera Starikovich. Lightening struck twice! His reaction on meeting Vera was exactly the same reaction he had upon meeting Natasha. Vera was the woman for him! This feeling did not replace the notion that Natasha was the women for him. Instead, he was now confronted with the unbelievable fact that there were two women equally as the one woman destined for him!
The fact that Vera and Natasha were mother and daughter and so alike was no doubt what produced the conflicting certainty of who was Lajos' true love. Actually Lajos sensed that if he had been attracted to two unrelated women simultaneously there would be no dilemma. He would merely ruthlessly conduct simultaneous affairs until he would tire of one of them or one of them would tire of him. But this strategy would not do with Vera and Natasha.
For one thing Vera inadvertently betrayed her total unabashed attraction to him. He could discern a genuine underpinning of a yearning for him in her unguarded observation. Thus Lajos was able to correctly deduce Vera's quick exit.
It was not just embarrassment that made her flee the scene but it was a deliberate attempt to escape the possibility of a potentially painful love triangle. He had no doubt that Vera would have stayed and started flirting with him despite her unguarfded remarks if she weren't Natasha's mother.
So he was in a real quandary. Had he not met Vera, his immediate and future romantic goals were clear cut; to fuck Natasha senseless in the short term and in the long term to commence a hot torrid sensual relationship leading to some kind of a mutual commitment. But now having met Vera he was seized with the determination and the desire to get to know Vera sexually as well. The tricky part in his desires was that he would not want in any way to rid himself of Natasha in favor of Vera.
With all these thoughts whirling in his head, he quickly came to the conclusion that no matter what may happen later, it was imperative to focus on the now. Ergo to fuck Natasha senseless was the immediate concern and the future will await another day.
After Natasha had suitably stored Olga (her violin) away and having texted Vera that she would not be around until the next morning, they headed to his hotel room.
