The following morning, Hans Kernumees woke up first. Initially he was in a haze, as the accumulation of alcohol consumption along with the sex had a debilitating effect on his comprehension that he was waking up to a new day. Once the cobwebs cleared his head, he broke into a sunny smile. He realized that he had fucked the most beautiful woman in Estonia, maybe in all of Europe, or for that matter in the entire world. Hell for all the glamorous women in the celebrity world of whose public photos he was familiar with, he couldn't recall any one of them to being superior in pulchritude to Maia. Equivalent maybe, but superior certainly not. And he had not just fucked her once, but he had fucked her four times!
Best of all in Hans' mind was the fact that Maia Laaning seemed to really like him; and not just for the sex either. She overtly intimated that she didn't consider this night to be a mere one night stand. Instead, she gave every indication that at the very least they would have some more dates after this evening. Such an outcome obviously did not enter his mind when he and Juhan Soosaar spotted Maia sitting with her friend at the tavern. The highest expectation he had for the evening is that Maia would consent to allow a selfie after sharing a drink.
However, as the evening progressed, Hans was very cognizant that Maia was demonstrating a real interest in him. It was evident to him not by blatant meaningless flirtation, but mostly by the subtle signals she was giving out that she was genuinely attracted to him. That feeling was reinforced by her friendly positive demeanor in her interaction with him. He was generally self assured and confident enough to gauge the effect that his personality was having on Maia. Considering the rather potent drinks Maia was imbibing, it emboldened him to make such an outright direct proposition for sex. Consequently, he was not shocked that she consented without hesitation.
Hans was copacetic with the vibes emanating from Maia hinting at a continuation of their sexual relationship beyond this evening. Why on earth would he not want it to continue? Aside from the great sex he had experienced with her, along with her ebullient personality and good looks, there was no denying that she was a significant woman. Not just as a student at the University of Tartu, but she was prominent in Estonian society by her family alone. Her stepfather was the Prime Minister of Estonia, after all. Her mother was a former cabinet minister in the previous Estonian government and a successful businesswoman in her own right. In other words, any straight unattached man would be envious of his situation.
About the only negative factor that could be attributed to the character of Maia Laaning as far as Hans could tell, was her conspicuous promiscuity. She was bold enough to have confessed that she had hooked up with a perfect stranger the night before, and with other various men throughout the previous month. That she readily admitted to him of possessing such sensuality despite their short acquaintanceship was to Hans an example of her complete self-assurance a characteristic which he approved.
Most men are conflicted with the past sexual history of their girlfriends. In this regard, Hans recalled a memorable scene he had witnessed in an otherwise forgettable American movie. After the beginning of a relationship wherein the couple had engaged in sex, the man pestered the woman to reveal how many different sex partners she had before meeting him. The woman demurred but subsequently agreed to write down the names of her previous partners if he would reciprocate with a similar list of his own past.
The man was satisfied with his comprehensive list as it included nine women, a number which he presumed would exceed her total. However, she was still busy compiling her list when he had finished. Finally, she handed her completed list to him, and it contained thirty names! As he gasped at the aggregate of her list, she mumbled that she forgotten one name, so she snatched the list back to add another name who she had forgotten.
Of course, the scene was played for laughs, but nevertheless there was a subtle dig at the male ego and the double standard of sexual morality as applied to men vis Γ vis women. Men who are promiscuous are described as virile and studs whereas promiscuous women are deemed sluts and whores.
On the other hand, Hans Kernumees was the rare man who did not harbor such an unfair prejudice. His viewpoint was that the past history of any of his girlfriends was merely their past history and had no bearing to the present relationship to him. In his view it stood to reason that a woman who had many various lovers by definition would be a superior sexual partner. The sex that had ensued between Maia and him confirmed his premise especially as he compared the sex, he had had with his previous sex partners.
All told before Maia, Hans had coitus with three females all while he was a student in high school. Two of them had been virgins. Those experiences did not conjure up as hot passionate events nor in any way equate to the steamy hot sex he had enjoyed with Maia. As a result, he had no interest in pursuing further sexual adventures with either one of them. The third female was his date at the Arkhangelsky and Nezhdanova concert. When he had sex with her it was her second time and so wasn't much better than the virgins he had deflowered. There was simply no comparison between the sex he had with Maia and his previous trio of partners.
With such musings, he realized he was in the same position as the male character in his remembered movie, in that Maia obviously had more sexual experience than he. Unlike the movie male character, Hans was not dismayed by the disparity since it confirmed his suspicion that she was passionate and ergo good in bed. That attribute can not be lauded enough. In Hans mind, his previous three lovers lacked passion and displayed so little joy, such that these experiences for him were only slightly better than the pleasure he derived from masturbation.
The double standard of sexual morality has a certain disadvantage for the studs and the virile. Indiscriminate women have an easier time to secure sexual partners than their counterpart of the male persuasion. Since most women would not relish being labeled a slut or a whore, they automatically resist initial attempts of seduction. Even when a woman does relent and succumbs to agreeing to sex offering little or virtually no resistance, she finds it incumbent to state categorically that she does not normally go to bed so quickly or after such short acquaintanceship. Then she praises the man for a wonderful experience which saves her from feeling any regrets or remorse.
Such assertion serves a two fold purpose for the woman. One, it confirms that she is not a slut and a whore despite her quick acceptance for sex. Two, it has the happy consequence that such assurance will boost her partner's male ego which will surely lead to another date, assuming that is a desired outcome. Happily in Hans' mind, Maia did not appear to entertain such trepidation. When she had asked if she had a reputation for being a slut and a whore, Hans sensed that it was a question of curiosity rather than of fear or apprehension. She appeared to have genuinely wondered what prompted him to so boldly and bluntly invite her for sex without engaging in the usual preliminary standard ploys of seduction.
