Early April
Year 3 of Us
Sunday
The movement of the bed woke me. "Lacey?"
"Right here, love." Came the soft voice from my left.
"Cathy?"
"She's going to check on the twins."
"That's my job..." I started to protest.
"Not this morning. We're going to cuddle a bit."
"One of my favorite things." I took Lacey into my arms, and she kissed me.
"I know, but it won't be for long. I have to deal with uploading a video." She snuggled her face into my neck. "Remember Sundays for us?"
"Oh, yes. You brought more sunshine into my life. Those chats made me feel good for almost the entire week. Gwen thanked you for that." I smiled softly.
"I know." I heard a chirping from Lacey's phone. "It's time." She sat up after giving me another kiss. I watched as she took off her hair bonnet and stretched her arms. Lacey patted my arm as Cathy carried the twins in, with the dogs following close behind.
Lacey gave all three of them a kiss, Sam, Cathy, then Duncan, before pulling on a robe and heading to the office.
"Where's she going?" Cathy wondered.
"To get her laptop and to start things going with her next video. Her fans will appreciate that."
"Oh."
I got up after putting my glasses on. I pulled on a shirt, stepped into my slippers, and took Duncan from Cathy. "Good morning, buddy," I said to him. "How are you this morning?"
He gurgled and patted my face while he smiled at me. I smiled back at him and gave him a quick kiss on the forehead. He leaned in and put his arms on my neck. "Oh, my! I love your hugs, Duncan!"
Cathy looked at me and turned so that I could give Sam her good morning kiss. "And how is my littlest princess?" She smiled at me and gave me a kiss. I started to carry Duncan to the office door, with LB and Sherlock following.
"Hey!" Cathy said. When I stopped and looked at her, she smiled. "Don't I get a good morning kiss?"
"Do you want one?" I asked with a grin.
"Of course, I do, Daddy." She gave me a look, almost daring me.
I stepped next to her and gave her a deep kiss. I had to break it, though, when both Duncan and Sam started to rock in our arms. Cathy looked past me and smiled. "We've been caught."
I heard Lacey chuckle. "You two. Kissing around the kids. Let's go down and fix breakfast."
As we carried the twins down the stairs, both dogs leading the way, Cathy noticed Lacey's laptop. "You get the video upload started?"
"Yeah. I knew which one it was going to be. I need to keep an eye on them."
"Them?" Cathy asked.
"Yes. There are four sites I upload a video to on Sunday. I did one before we went to the inn, but Sunday is the usual day."
"That guy still trying to get your attention, Lacey?"
Lacey laughed softly as we walked into the kitchen.
"What's that?" Cathy asked.
"There's a guy who wants to chat with her. For a long time, he kept asking *me* if I was chatting with her. He seems nice, but I didn't give him much of an answer about that."
"Does he still ask you?"
"No." I answered simply.
"Does he know about you two?"
As we settled the twins into their highchairs, Lacey set her laptop on the counter, well out of Sam's reach. Lacey laughed, "No. He thinks that Wyatt has simply disappeared. Fans do that at times."
"I just ended my old account and started a new one," I said.
"So, you can still chat with her?"
Lacey giggled, which set off the twins. "No, but he does chat with some of the other folks there."
"And, yes, a few of my contacts know about us. They're happy for us, and they know who the twins' father is."
As Lacey got our cereal down from the cabinet, I got some bowls and a couple of jars of baby food, and spoons. Lacey smiled at Cathy. "I hope cereal is good, this morning. We have several types you know, so come over and take a pick. We can always add your favorite to the list for next weekend."
Cathy joined Lacey in front of the cabinet and looked over what we had. She said, "Oh, those are good," before pulling a box down. Lacey smiled before checking your laptop.
"How's it going?"
"Pretty good. Should be completely up in about ten minutes."
"Is this a new one, my princess?"
"Yes."
"Well, I'll have to make a purchase later today."
"You buy her videos?" Cathy asked.
"Yeah."
"But why?" she was confused.
"It improves her stats on the site, I like having a copy for myself, and it shows my appreciation for her work."
Cathy looked at me as she brought her cereal choice to the table, then she took the cereal bowls from Lacey while she checked her laptop. Cathy looked at Lacey. "Won't you just give them to him?"
"Yes." Lacey shrugged. "It's a quirk he has. *I've* bought a copy of all five of his novels."
I grinned at both of them. "And I appreciate *that*."
"You guys are weird."
Lacey walked behind me, flipped my ponytail out of the way, and gave the back of my neck a kiss. "Yep."
Cathy started to feed Duncan while I gave Sam her breakfast. As we and the twins ate, Cathy was very quiet.
Lacey looked at Cathy, a curious look on her face. "What's wrong, Cathy?"
"Huh? Oh, I have questions I want to ask, but I don't know if they'll be okay."
I leaned forward and wiped Sam's face. "You've eaten it all, Sam! You must like it." She smiled at me and then I winked and smiled at her, which made her smile grow wider. I got some dry food for the dogs' breakfast and put it in their bowls. "Ask away. We may, or may not, answer them. A lot depends upon where we are, and who's with us at the time."
Cathy nodded. "Fair enough."
Lacey cleaned Duncan's face before kissing the top of his head as she stepped to the counter and checked the laptop. She nodded. "Good. It's up and looks good." Lacey walked behind Cathy and caressed her shoulders. "Ask your questions, Kitty-cat."
"First question: How many guns do you own?"
"I'll take this one, beloved." Lacey nodded. "There are four large caliber pistols and two smaller ones in this house. You saw one of mine yesterday. Lacey is actually better than I am with pistols. She's also pretty good with a shotgun, of which we have two."
"Thank you for the compliment, cowboy."
I shrugged. "True is true. I'm better with rifles -- we have ten."
"Ten?"
"Yes."
"Why that many?" Cathy asked.
"Different uses, Cathy."
"Wyatt is so much better with a rifle -- I have small hands and my arms aren't really long enough for most rifles." Lacey added.
I gave her a little bow from where I was standing.
"Okay. Second one: just how many videos have you done, Lacey?"
Lacey stepped back to her laptop and looked at it. "Right now, I have four hundred and seventy-five videos available online."
"Is that all of them?" Cathy asked.
"No, there are a dozen over on Erica's site, and there are seven new ones I haven't released yet, as well as a dozen older ones."
"Wow. Okay. Third question: is Wyatt in any of them?"
We both burst into laughter, which made the twins laugh, too. Lacey pointed at me as I started getting Sam out of her chair. "You answer and tell her *why*."
Cathy took up Duncan as Lacey gathered the dirty dishes and put them in the sink.
"I'll answer on the way up to get these two into the bath." Going up the stairs, I saw that Lacey had her laptop and was only a few steps below Cathy. "I have been in one. Well, part of me has been in one. There's one she made while she was pregnant. She was on her hands and knees using a toy -- you can see my hand holding that toy. All of me in one? Nope. I'm camera shy."
Lacey giggled again as we walked into the babies' bathroom, leaving her laptop on the bench in the hall. The dogs started to join us in the bathroom, but Lacey shook her head. "No guys, just wait. Sit." Both of them obeyed you, but they did sit so that they could look into the bathroom.
"Is he really camera shy, Lacey?"
"When it comes to my type of camera work? Yes." As I undressed Sam, Lacey caressed my back before she started the bathtub running. "We've done a couple for ourselves, just for the spice, and he does well. If he knows that it's going to go public? Nope."
"Wow. Why?'
"It's who I am, Kitty-cat."
"Okay. Fourth question: I've heard you say that Lacey saved you. How?"
Lacey took her robe off and started giving Sam her bath while I got Duncan undressed.
"Lacey?"
"Kitty-cat, we'll answer that this afternoon, while they're taking a nap. Okay?"
"Sure."
Our pattern for giving them baths was made easier with Cathy, who had very quickly figured out what needed to be done. We got them dried and dressed, then we went back down to the living room. Cathy and I started playing with the twins while Lacey settled on the couch, dealing with things on her laptop. The dogs watched us playing, and Sherlock crept close to Duncan's stuffed lion, while LB just rolled onto her side after she yawned. Sherlock kept his head down, watching as Duncan stacked blocks.
I watched this whole thing as Sam tugged her stuffed otter closer to her. This was a familiar game, and I hid a smile. Sherlock crept a little closer to the lion, and Cathy looked up and I could see her start to speak. I shook my head and raised a finger to my lips. She looked at me, a question on her face. I just tilted my head towards the action.
Sherlock was almost touching the lion with his nose. Duncan turned with a laugh and grabbed it. Sherlock jumped to his feet, tail wagging. He boofed a little, and bumped Duncan with his nose. Duncan laughed even more and grabbed Sherlock's chin.
"Careful, Duncan. Love Sherlock. No hurt, okay?"
