Balik wakes early on this day, bad dream would think. Luckily Dan gets up to go see him, tried once and Balik was not that happy with it. So Dan goes, while he goes to get Balik calmed down check out the window. Close enough to the sky lighting so hop out of bed and get dressed then collect my belt and Winchester.
Course belt sits lower than like now but Dan makes wear my belt still. Especially when hunting, think he is scared the lynx will attack. Like to say he is wrong but actually am not sure on that, fairly sure the one in the area hunt eats what leave of the coney or pig. This is not the best of things because it may decide that provide food.
This is how dogs joined tribes, just dogs are not prone to attack anything smaller like a child. Get out in the hunt area and shiver, is getting cool. Seem that pregnant mean notice more as well so reckon on shall get out coat early. Sky is lighting and have sound from bush so hunker down and brush at grass.
After moment get pig head so bring up rifle, whistle then shoot. Pig fall over but still life so hop up and work on closer as aim better. Shoot again then realize bush still move, this no so good. If second pig mean either shot large babe or perhaps mated pair. Hard tell on account all pig look same at head then second pig come out of bush with squeal.
Pig charge right at so aim in and shoot pig. Pig lean but no fall and still life so drop rifle and pull Colt to shoot up. Take four shot but pig fall over, also had roll out of way, this pig is large. Must say twice as big as first so have mated pair, just no swell of child. Is confuse on but still move to and check about for other pig.
Finding no other pig taking interest in the no life pig or hunter, drop down and hunter cut. Takes a spell then have problem, two pig, both good sized and one gal. Look back at house to find have mile go, this no good. Still have take both at same or no have second pig. Small pig go over shoulder then grab leg of big pig and drag toward house.
During drag find that no longer cold so is good then see Bonita out of house. She head for outhouse so whistle and wave Winchester. Take moment then Bonita is dash out to help and make return quick like. Course also hard, we share big pig carry and only get one hand. Pig is also heavy so we no hold long enough.
End up pick up pig again four time afore reaching house then get inside. Take bit of try then get both pig on counter to take over to Bartholomew later. While Bonita go and make use of outhouse look over what have for vittles. When she get back suggest pancake with egg and Bonita like so we do pancake with scramble egg, Balik no eat fried egg well.
Vittles all done up we take stack of pancake out with big bowl of egg. Dan and Chad are smiling over the vittles. Balik is clap hands and call pa. Much laugh at this, honest reckon Balik know wrong just do for funny. Get to put pancake on plate for Balik, with egg while Dan does morning prayer then he cut up and add syrup.
No like Dan syrup for Balik though Balik like so is proper. Still think no proper but am mostly only injun think so. Still go and have ice cream plenty, is good flavor.
"Janet why did you shoot so much?" Look over at Dan and sigh.
"Found pig in bush, is big bush. When get pig stick head out shoot and head for to make sure on no life. Second pig in bush, big pig charge so need shoot with Winchester and Colt." Chad wave hand.
"You did not know there was a second pig?" Look down and shake head.
"Big bush and big pig stop move so no see bush move until am head for shot pig. Shoot shot pig then big pig come out of bush in charge."
Chad is chuckle now so kick and we all resume vittles. Is embarrass that miss second pig, then also got third child in danger. Mean is bad hunter and no wish be bad hunter, perhaps mean am old now. After vittles Dan go check on Bartholomew in butcher then get Chad to help take pig. Bonita and me take care of plate, and babes.
Sashi is work on stand now and Balik is plenty of run about. Least no big enough open door so we put in kitchen with and let be. Mind on little since Balik like open cabinet, Sashi crawl in open cabinet. This fine just Balik also close cabinet so Sashi get stuck and wail. Bonita is wipe so can go let out Sashi, who seem like get stuck on account keep do.
Hear train so we look at what have left clean then do quick like and leave sit on towel to dry. Dan no let go for train, he take in to office and have put on silver Colt belt. The inlaid done is beautiful, curlicue all up and down revolver, pearl grip. Even has gold plaque on both grip, both say 'Cherokee Janet'.
Both beautiful pistol and no wear. Do on this day on account no clean other Colt yet and may need. So check on load to find both are then follow Dan for train. Bonita follow to go in sheriff office, Balik and Sashi are sit in there now on account Balik hard for Isaac mind in kitchen. Bonita is try to teach Balik chess, no easy on account Balik like run.
"Heaven's Janet, I didn't get to see those when they arrived." Look over at Andrew and smile.
"Colt went all out. Reckon on Dan wrote good letter." Andrew snorts and shakes his head.
"They took longer to make those than they advertise. Also a bit nicer than the example drawing they sent out, reckon on they asked about you."
Just shrug on account no tell on if they did or not. Then folk are coming toward us so get to do little speech on no gun in town. Then get surprise, have family is move here. All fine and good, just is one difficulty.
"Happy wish move here, reckon on hard find work." Fella shake head and smile.
"Already have work lined up. I'm going to cook in the eatery." Smile on account is good, though no sure which eatery.
"All good then, shall walk with to hotel or house if have built."
"The house isn't built yet, have ordered the wood for it. Also have some crates to collect." Look at man then look up at Andrew to get snort.
"Go on Janet, walk them to the hotel, we will collect the crates and bring them over to the hotel." Nod and smile at the family, have man, wife, and small boy who is stare at belt.
Lead them along street to turn then follow along on new street. Point out laundry along with store, share on ice cream other direction. Constance is little rude to new town family, look right at to ask question.
"Janet where is your sword?" Look down and remember no transfer knife.
"New belt and no transfer, shall get to. Crate or two come for them as well." Constance nod and smile then turn to new town family.
No need to stay so head for house to get knife off other belt. Wave at Dan lug crate with Andrew, Chad behind with Benjamin lug second. Both are proper travel chest so no crate but still can be called since so big. Remember see travel chest like on third cow drive, had two, one for the daughter and one for the husband and wife.
Daughter chest was half empty on account she no have husband. Talked with her some, she was hopeful of get husband soon, been sending out letters to fellas relatives knew. Knife on belt step out of house to get pushed back in by Dan. We sit on the sofa in the sitting room and Dan pull out letter, addressed to both so little surprise.
"We got letter?" Dan nods and pulls me over in to him as he opens it up.
"Don't rightly know what for, this came all the way from Washington D.C. though."
Nod and lean against Dan, he no make read that much, honest is nice. He read then explain what in letter so can understand better. Need to with Ma and Pa letter, they talk funny in the letter. No help Pa has odd way of write, Dan say is cursive and how a fella is supposed to. Dan just read a spell then snort afore twisting to look at.
"Well if that don't just beat all. Washington is reworking the marshal system, don't mean a thing for us but the marshals are going to start touring the country. Not all marshal mind and mostly it will be federal marshal tour in regions but it is a new part of the system and they want us to do a little touring." Ponder on for moment then well there is a question boiling up in my noggin.
"Tour where?"
"Well they are asking us to head into the south. Reckon on account both of us are from southern or border states."
