THE COMPANION CH SIX
As Lorelei turned thirty-five, she was at a crossroads. Mother had now given her enough rich clients that her calendar was full. She saw someone almost every weekend. She worked as a consultant Monday thru Wednesday, and a "companion" Friday thru Sunday. Thursday was the one day she hibernated away from people, any people. She and Beverely had started having lunch every Thursday. They would discuss how the week had been, any problems, etc. It was during these lunches that Lorelei helped Beverely with her escape plan. Mother knew this and never scheduled them on Thursday. Mother was happy with Lorelei and knew she wouldn't be there much longer. She was also happy the two women had each other. This is a very lonely and dangerous business. Having someone to talk to and watch out for you is a precious gift.
First, Lorelei was approaching fifteen years, and that is a long time to not get caught or still be in the business. Lorelei wasn't sure how, but the accountant had already transferred over a million dollars to her Swiss Bank account. Mother was aware that most of her clients had given her "tips" in addition to what she gave Mother. That's okay, Lorelei had paid her everything she was supposed to.
Mother felt like this was the last year she would see Lorelei.
Mother was correct. Lorelei had her plan. One more year, at the most. She had almost two million in her secret safe. Her going rate for one night with the rich was $50,000, two nights $150,000, and a long weekend started at $250,000. She was god-smacked that anyone would pay those rates for pussy, even a skilled and beautiful pussy like hers. She now had politicians, famous businessmen, a baseball player, and one icon of the entertainment industry.
Chase had been as good as his word. He introduced her to a few real movie stars and TV people, and they were very profitable to her. He had called her to come over, and she went.
Chase McIntyre
When his car picked her up, she was ready. She had packed a small bag in case he wanted a longer stay. When she walked into his home, he was waiting for her. He wasn't high or drunk. She took the opportunity to sit him down for a talk.
"Chase, my friend. I can't charge you any longer for seeing you. I want to be a friend that asks nothing of you but your friendship. You have already done enough for me. I want you to have one friend that is not trying to stab you in the back. I will still sleep with you whenever you want, but I will also come over just to have dinner and talk, if that is what you need."
Chase looked into her eyes, as if trying to see what her plan was. No one does that in the entertainment industry. And she was in the entertainment industry as much as he was. "I think I like the professional relationship better."
"That's fine. If it makes you more comfortable, you can still talk to mother and send her money to keep it clean. However, you only must send half the normal amount. I have already explained this to mother, and she knows what to do. You can call me directly. You were one of my first clients. I got you, not her. I am fine, and I think I would rather be a friend to you, than one of the blood sucking leeches."
She got up and went to him, sat beside him, and took him in her arms. He just collapsed on her lap, and she put his head down in her lap and let him get it all out.
It took several minutes until he could compose himself again. "If only I could believe you."
She helped him sit up and looked into his eyes. "I'm about done with this business, and I don't want any more clients. I have already begun paring my list down. Could we go to bed? I've missed you, and I want to be with you tonight."
She stood up, took his hand, and led him upstairs. When they arrived at his room, she began to slowly remove his clothing until he was naked. She then pushed him down on the bed and began a slow strip for him. Once she was naked, she crawled in beside him. She whispered in his ear. "One other thing, my love. No more pretending. I don't care if you ever give me another orgasm. I just want everything between us to be real and natural. Do what you want, you don't need to pretend with me. In this bed, it is just two people who enjoy each other's company, Okay?"
He kissed her gently and she kissed him back. He held her until he was ready and then climbed on top of her. She helped him into her, and he worked at making love to her. She didn't come, and she didn't pretend she had. When he finished, she kissed him and thanked him.
She held him and just as he was drifting off to sleep, she whispered into his ear, "I do love you, you old goat."
He heard that as he drifted off. Great, now he knows what her angle is.
The next morning, he was wary. She knew he would be, so she was ready. "Chase. Don't confuse what I said last night. We're not the marrying kind, you and I. We both know that. I already have enough money for me, I don't want to be famous; you have nothing I want from you other than friendship. If this makes you nervous, I can leave and not bother you until you wish to see me again, if ever. DEAL?"
He sat bolt upright in the bed. She is GOOD. He didn't have a move, and he ALWAYS has a move. That is how he has survived in this business for so long.
Lorelei knew this was foreign to him. She figured she had a 50/50 chance he would be just her friend, but she needed to reduce the number of people she had in her circle. She didn't need this man's sexual favors any longer. If friendship wasn't possible, it was best to cut this clean now. She got up and kissed him. "Chase, my love. The next move is yours. If I don't hear from you, I have my answer."
She got dressed and went home.
Bernie Young
Lorelei had a message from Bernie on her phone when she left Chases' house. She called him while in Uber on the way home that morning. When they arrived at her address, she asked the driver if he wanted to make a little extra off the books. Of course he did, so he took her to Bernie's address. She gave him $40 and went in.
Bernie cut right to the chase. "Your boy is in trouble. Something about a bribe gone bad. The deal is on hold and his board is very upset. The government will probably kill the deal, and if they do, he will get fired."
Lorelei shuddered at the word "bribe". She had a bad feeling about this. She was afraid she was the bribe, and he may roll over on her if he is charged with something, just to give them something. She knew they would tear her world apart. She asked Bernie to stay close to it and warn her before anything happened.
Bernie could see she was very upset. He declined any "payment" for his services and had her sit down to relax a little bit. He gave her a stiff whiskey and coke to settle her nerves.
"Lorelei, I will stay on top of this. I have a friend in the Justice Department, and I will try to get to the bottom of this."
Bernie took her home. Lorelei didn't think him knowing where she lived was anywhere near the top of the list of her issues right now.
She tried calling Alex, but he didn't answer. He must be staying low, waiting for the government to decide what they were going to do.
Three hours later, she had a knock on her door. When she opened it, a well-dressed young man stood before her.
"Miss Bardot, may I come in?" She nodded and backed up to allow him in. "I am from Alexander Cunningham. His phones are tapped, and he is being watched. If someone contacts you, you must tell them you are an interior design consultant, and you are negotiating with him to do his condo in the city. You have only met him once, at the hotel, when he tried to hire you."
Lorelei sat down. She was stupid to have called his phone. Of course he had been tapped. That was a mistake she wouldn't make again. "Anything else?"
The young man smiled and blushed. "Well... there is something."
"Okay?"
He stepped up to her and kissed her on the cheek. "He said on the mouth, but I didn't think that was appropriate."
She smiled and kissed him on the mouth. She had kissed plenty of frogs, and she was pretty sure this young man wasn't a frog.
He had stumbled when she opened the door, and he saw how beautiful she was. Cunningham, of course, he could have women like her. He gave her the first part of the message, and decided he had to add the kiss on the cheek. He knew he would never have the opportunity to kiss a model like her, and he didn't want to miss the chance.
"Ma-am, there is one other thing. He says you are not the object of the investigation. The one million dollars is. They knew there was a woman present, and they are looking for you. Your call gives them your name. He promises to not divulge that you were the woman, but if he is threatened with prison, he may have to give you up. He will send me to give you 48 hours' notice to prepare. Good day, and good luck."
He was gone. She hadn't even gotten his name, DAMN. If she had known about the kiss, she might have changed her opinion of him.
She went to discuss her problem with mother. She needed a plan before they tried to contact her.
Mother just shrugged. All her girls have had encounters with law enforcement at one time or another. Bryon had been able to shield most of them from NYPD, but this was Federal. "Look, sweetie, I'd hate to lose you. You're now my best girl. I've made a large amount of money off you, not just in your fees, but from what your clients will pay me and help me to keep you with them. If they are too stupid to know they could call you and cut me out, I'll let them. What I'm saying is, we have a good relationship and are both benefiting from each other. However, when you retire, and decide to run is up to you. I will do anything I can, and my colleagues will do anything they can to help you. You do have arrangements, correct?" Lorelei nodded. "I was sure of it. You're too smart to think this can go on forever. You could always talk to them and see if they bought your story. Or you could run now. It's up to you."
For the first time in twelve years Lorelei had worked for Mother, she hugged her when Lorelei got up to leave. Lorelei had a tear in her eye. She knew what that meant.
The diary
I haven't written for a while. It becomes a hassle to get to Jersey every time to get it out and it is dangerous to keep it with me for too long.
Here goes.
I am now thirty-five and I have three million saved. How I will get it to my account in Dominica, I have no idea. If I had it there now, I would leave now. I have an idea how to transport the cash. I will need to work on that next. My timeline may have moved up for me.
Lorelei got the call a day later from the FBI, wanting to talk to her. She asked them to come by her house, and they did so.
"Miss Bardot, thanks for seeing us. Do you have any idea why we are here?"
"Not a clue. I've never even MET anyone in the FBI before."
"Do you know Alexander Cunningham?"
She paused a moment to make it look better. "Yes, yes I do. He wants me to redesign one of his homes. He has several, and he has a penthouse condo with a wonderful view of the New York skyline. I'm in the interior design consulting business." She handed each one of her cards. "I met with him once at a hotel his bank owns. We negotiated terms and cost, but he hasn't gotten back to me yet. I have called him a couple of times, but he hasn't made up his mind yet."
