Carol
It was late morning when I called my sister, Beth.
"Just letting you know that I'm heading your way after lunch. And how's my favorite niece and nephew?"
"Your only niece and nephew are being a pain at the moment. They're both in time out."
"It's tough being a mom and if I recall, we both spent some time, you more than me, in time out. I swear, sis, you're sounding more like our mom."
"I've become our mom," she said with a laugh. "Have you decided to attend the gala tomorrow tonight?"
"Well..."
"I wish you would. There'll be food, drinks, music, and best of all, it's in the hotel where you're staying. Who knows, you might meet a proper stranger and dance the night away."
I smiled. My sister knows my fondness of romance novels and I'd share some of the sex games my late husband and I use to play. Our favorite was him picking me up at a bar especially after other guys had tried and failed. It wasn't very nice of me since they bought me drinks and tried their best. John would have already booked a room at the hotel and on my signal, move in and whisk me away, much to the chagrin of the other guys. We laugh at the various pickup lines that I'd hear. Some were very good and if I were a single gal, I'd probably let one of them get lucky. We had good times and great sex. Now, all I have are my memories, explicit romance novels, and my toys. The thought of meeting a stranger at the gala that would wet my panties was just a fantasy. But what the hell. "Ok. You win. I'll go."
"Great! Remember, it's a black-tie affair so you can dress up and have fun. We'll see you tonight for dinner."
"Ok. I'll call you when I check in."
Staying in a hotel when visiting family was something John and I had been doing for several years and I didn't see any reason to change it. It's less intrusive and I get to pamper myself with the hotel amenities.
Five hours later, I checked into my favorite luxury hotel and called my sister. Beth said to come over anytime, and the kids were anxious to see me. She and Eric lived only twenty minutes away so I thought I'd freshen up by enjoying a shower in the hotel's spacious bathroom.
As I washed myself, I thought about the fun John and I had in many hotel bathrooms. Often times, he'd fuck me while I sat on the counter and then we'd have fun washing each other. I miss those times. The guys I've dated were nice enough, but they didn't provide that spark I needed and when I didn't let them progress past copping a feel, they quickly lost interest. When I spread my legs, it'll be on my terms.
I love the towels that come with the suite -- soft and luxuriant. I took my time and when I finished, I looked at my naked body in the mirror. I'm rapidly closing in on middle age and still looked pretty good. I'm not a beauty but I'm not bad looking either. John said it was my killer smile that got his attention and being six feet tall against his six-five clinched the deal. My B-cub breasts are still perky and I've kept my slim figure. I've got good help keeping the gray under control in my brunette hair. My stomach growled and reminded me that I needed to dress and head to my sister's home.
It was nice to see my sister and brother-in-law and be greeted by my five-year-old niece and three-year-old nephew. My sister is ten years younger than me. She might be what people referred to as an 'oops' baby. We were close, in part, because I took care of her.
It was a pleasant evening and later, I read a bedtime story to the children and put them to bed. After that, Beth got out the wine and the three of us caught up on things and talked about the gala tomorrow night. It was their first time as volunteers and they were manning one of the silent auction tables. I was feeling better about the affair and actually looked forward to it.
I got back to the hotel and hit their hot tub before I went to bed. I love a hot tub and have one at home. There was one little difference, though. At home, I'm naked in the hot tub and sometimes I have my waterproof vibrator do its magic.
Larry
It's Friday and everyone in the staff meeting is making sure all the details for tomorrow night's gala are covered. I'm the youngest event coordinator in the company, having just achieved that position this year. It's my second major event and my first big fund raiser ball or gala. I really don't know the difference. Fortunately, I have a great group and felt very confident that all would go well. It helped that the company has been doing this event for many years and it's almost routine. I wasn't taking any chances, however and called a meeting more for my benefit than anything else.
I'm in my mid-twenties and already moving up rapidly in the organization. My attention to details and anticipating the un-expected in today's challenging environment has been duly noted by the higher ups. Of course, all this came at a price. Long days and lots of out-of-town traveling doesn't give a person much time for a social life, let alone dating. Right now, I love my job and tomorrow will take care of itself.
After our staff meeting, I headed to the hotel to go over the final details one more time with management. I also hoped to catch some of the band's rehearsal. I booked this particular band because the drummer and I were fraternity brothers and roommates in college.
The hotel had been hosting this event since it first opened a few years ago and they were ready. It didn't take long to go through the checklist and I learned that many of the patrons attending the gala elected to take the hotel's special which, along with a suite, included valet parking, the gala, and breakfast.
The band was well into a run through of their music when I stepped into the ballroom. I wanted to make sure the sound level still allowed patrons to talk. I saw my buddy, Dan, get the leader's attention and he pointed at me.
"Hey Larry. Could you come up here?"
"What now?" I wondered.
When I got up on the stage, Dan was there to greet me and he introduced me to Mike, their leader. I'd only dealt with their business manager so I didn't know Mike.
"Dan tells me that you can sing and we wondered if you would.... ah... do a number tomorrow night?"
Dan had a big grin on his face and I couldn't help but chuckle. "Any suggestions, Dan?"
"As a matter of fact, yes. For a slow dance number, you could sing your Elvis favorite: "Can't Help Falling in Love."
"Ah yes, from the movie Blue Hawaii," I responded. "Let's try it and you be the judge." Truth be known, it's an easy song to sing and it lays perfect in my range.
Needless to say, my solo went well and I was informed that sometime during the night's performance, I'd be summoned on stage to do my song. I'd sung that song several times at a karaoke club but suddenly the thought of performing in front of tomorrow's crowd made me nervous. I looked over at Dan and he had a big grin and then he gave me two thumbs up. So much for anticipating the un-expected.
The hotel manager invited me to dinner and I was served a superb filet mignon. It was nice to chat about something other than tomorrow's event.
