Dave's eyes drifted to the spreadsheet on his computer screen. He ignored the dull monotonous rows of data in favor of drumming his desk and checking his phone. The clock read 11:50 AM. He watched, waiting as the minutes crawled toward noon--and lunchtime.
His cubicle was in the back corner of the office, affording him some privacy. He bobbed his head to a steady beat pulsing through his earbuds. The music was loud, but not loud enough to drown out the hum of the office.
He flicked his thumb on his phone screen--then he heard the shuffle of feet approaching. He put his phone down and pretended to work.
"Dave?" a feminine voice asked, stretching his name.
Dave removed his earbuds and swung his chair around. It was Emily, the intern from the IT Department.
She wore a plain gray knee length skirt and a black blouse. Her clothes had a loose fit, but beneath the fabric there was the subtle hint of alluring curves. Thin-framed glasses gave her face a nerdy charm.
She leaned against the cubicle wall, hands behind her back, "So this is the right cubicle. I came by earlier, but no one was here."
"I had a meeting with Jenn, just some performance review stuff." Dave couldn't keep the smile off his face. He had thought he was going to be fired--but instead, Jenn seduced him in her office and then gave him a raise.
"I've never seen someone so happy about a performance review."
Dave shrugged. "What brings you here?"
"We received a support ticket." Emily bit her lip and glanced down to Dave's crotch. "I've come by to check things out."
Dave didn't send any support tickets, but before he could respond Emily shot down to her knees. "I'll have to take a look around underneath." She scooted closer while tying her hair up. Her fingers brushed his knee, then slowly trailed up his thigh.
Dave stood, flustered, "Underneath my desk?"
Emily paused, staring into Dave's eyes for a long moment, a coy smile on her lips. She got on all fours and looked around underneath the desk. "Looks like everything here is good." She arched her back showing off her backside. "Everything is plugged in."
She spun around and sat on her heels looking up at Dave. "You wouldn't believe how many people forget to check if everything is plugged in. It's so silly."
"Emily, I didn't file a support ticket."
She giggled. "You got me! I made it up. But since I'm down here, is there anything else you want me to check out?"
Emily looked up at Dave with inviting eyes, her hands resting innocently in her lap.
He narrowed his eyes, considering her flirtatiousness. Was it just his imagination? Surely, he wasn't being seduced by another coworker in the same day. "Well.. uh... you're the IT expert. What's your recommendation?"
"It's just that I heard some talk about you around the office. You know, girl talk. Someone said that she could notice your erections--"
"Not so loud." Dave peeked over the cubicle walls to see if anyone was nearby. His neighbors weren't in the office today. Satisfied that no one could overhear, he leaned in. "Okay, listen to this--someone actually filed a complaint with HR about my erections. That's what my meeting with Jenn was about."
"It must've left a big impression." Emily giggled conspiratorially. "So, anything else I should check? I have lots of relevant skills for this position." She bit her lip.
