Quad Couplings

CHAPTER 9
It was into the first week of February as I sat at my desk working on some yield to maturity formulas for my economics class. Brad reclined on my bed with his back to the wall reading a textbook on intercultural communication. He seemed so quiet lately since that blowup between Julie and me. The man appeared torn, as if he didn't really want to be with me but couldn't stay away either. I felt so sorry for the guy, but couldn't think of any way to cheer him up.
Julie strolled merrily into the room and set her purse and books on her bed. "Hello all! Studying hard, I see?"
"Yes," I replied unemotionally. "Hard at it."
The girl crossed to Brad and removed the book from his hands. "Speaking of hard, how is this sexy hot hunk doing?"
Brad regarded her curiously. "Okay, I guess."
Julie stepped up onto the bed and planted her feet on either side of his hips. She hooked her hands onto his shoulders and lowered to sit in his lap. "It's been a while since you serviced this hot lady, stud-boy. When can you pencil me in for a thorough once-over?"
I turned to her with my jaw agape. "Julie!"
Brad awkwardly cleared his throat. "If this is going to be another fight over me, I think I better leave."
"Don't leave, honey. I have some questions for you to answer." She glanced at me with a playful smile. "You don't mind if I quiz your boyfriend about some personal information, do you?"
"That's up to him."
Brad rested his hands on her slender waist. "I have a feeling I won't get out of here until I do."
"Great! First of all, do you find me attractive?"
"Yes."
"Good answer! How about sexy?"
"I suppose so." He glanced at me and back at her. "You're pretty sexy in a cute and lovable kind of way."
"I'm glad you used the word lovable. I happen to think you are lovable too, for a guy."
"Thanks."
"Do you enjoy having sex with me?"
I scowled at the girl. "Where exactly are you going with this line of questioning?"
Julie hooked her ankles together behind the man's back. "Brad and I like each other. We are sexually compatible, even though I generally prefer ladies. Given time, I'm sure I could overcome that aspect and become a one-man woman if he is interested in having me for the long haul."
Brad furrowed his brow with a puzzled expression. "Long haul?"
"I'm asking you to marry me, stud boy."
I sprang from my chair. "What!"
Julie gave me a weary look. "Relax, honey. It's only a formality. I will be available to satisfy Brad's sexual needs and you can stay on as my mistress to satisfy mine."
I stared at her in shock. "What has gotten into you?"
"Reality, darling. Brad is brilliant and rich and an incredible lover. That combination doesn't come along every day. Since you don't want him, I say he's fair game."
Brad shifted uncomfortably. "I think the joke has gone on long enough."
Julie stared evenly into his eyes. "I assure you; this is no joke. I am totally sincere. I want to marry you, Brad Dickson. I promise to fuck you every day and every night and make lots of babies for you and make you happy and content forever."
"This is nuts!" I exclaimed.
Julie looked at me like I was a disobedient child. "And why is that?"
"Because you don't love him!"
"And you do?"
"Yes!"
Brad looked at me and I stared agape at the couple. I was stunned in the realization of what I just said. "I... I guess I love you, Brad."
Julie beamed brightly. "Ah, the truth comes out at last."
The man regarded her sternly. "So this was all a game to you?"
"No darling, never a game. I sincerely meant every word I said. To me, this is all very real. The marriage proposal... my admitting you were a fantastic lay... all of it." Julie kissed Brad long and soft on the lips. She leaned back and smiled. "Not bad for a man." The girl crawled off his lap. "My offer still stands, stud. I am totally yours forever and ever, whenever you want me. Just say the word and I'll be waiting at the chapel with something borrowed and something blue." Julie turned to me with a smile. "I guess you two have a lot to talk about." She sauntered sexily out the door and left us alone.
I dropped heavily into the chair. "Well, that certainly was different."
"The girl has a way of getting the truth out of people. That is, if that was the truth?"
"Yes, Brad. I love you. I always have, even when I thought we were nothing more than good friends. I could always share my deepest secrets and my lifelong dreams with you. You were there for me when I needed you and you constantly look out for me like my knight in shining armor. I didn't want to admit it before because I didn't want to lose Julie. I love her too and don't want to have to choose which one of you I want to share my life with."
"I understand." Brad rose to his feet. "Your heart is torn. You need time to understand your feelings and find out what you really want out of life."
I took his hand in mine. "What if that takes a very long time for me to decide?"
