"Are you a jealous person?"
Lily's question caught Andrew by surprise. Jealousy hadn't been a topic of discussion the first few times he and Lily had gone out together. Perhaps now was the time for that conversation.
He considered his answer, giving the question his full attention.
"No, I don't think so," he said after deliberation. Lily nodded.
"I believe you," she said, "You took the time to actually think about it."
"And you're asking because you want to talk about something heavier than our usual flirty, cute conversations?"
Lily laughed and pointed finger guns at him. Andrew smiled at her goofiness. He liked her playfulness; she rarely took anything to heart. She was open-minded, outgoing, and had a personality that made people feel at ease around her.
"Yes," she said after a moment, "I do. I want to preface this by saying we both have histories and experiences and those experiences led us to where we are today."
Andrew nodded, listening, open to whatever came next. He liked Lily. He wondered what she might offer up.
"I don't take sex seriously. It's physical, it's fun. There's no emotional element in it for me. It's like basketball, one on one, maybe two on two. You get sweaty, you shower, you move on with your day."
Lily paused for several beats, assessing Andrew's reaction. He had questions but waited her out, trusting her to keep going.
