"Leo, is there a way you can head to the hospital? Shannon is in labor."
When it comes to my sense of duty, Marcie gets first place. Normally, Aubrey has been in second lately. Matt, my business partner has always had a spot there as well. Matt is not only my business partner, but he has been my friend since almost the beginning. When Marcie and I went to his wedding ceremony last year, it was a demonstration of how much we were tight. I was married to my late wife for a long time before Matt started dating Shannon. I honestly thought he'd be a bachelor for life. When he proposed, I was there. I was there at his wedding, and I was going to be there when Shannon gave birth...kinda.
It was still fresh from the pandemic. We walked into the emergency room with our masks on before we were stopped prior to reaching the elevators. As we were escorted to the waiting room, Matt was coming out of the elevator. He saw me and smiled before hugging me. He then hugged Marcie and Aubrey before we all sat down.
"They kicked you out the room?" I asked.
"Damn, Covid."
We were all sitting there together when the subject of kids came up. Believe it or not, Matt is the only one who ventured into this territory. Aubrey had never married nor had a devoted enough boyfriend. Missy and I decided early on that we didn't want kids. When the focus went to Marcie, she looked at us and smiled before she answered.
"Mitch and I decided the same thing. We were young when we married. We were unsure if we could afford children. So, we never did."
As we were talking, a nurse came in to get Matt. As they headed back to the scene, we continued to talk. It was soon after that Matt sent me a picture of my new Godson. Satisfied that everything was alright, we headed home. After dropping off Aubrey next door, we walked into the house where Marcie turned and presented her lips on mine. We stood there for a while kissing before she tapped me on the shoulder.
"Leo, we should probably think about dinner."
We stopped making out like teenagers long enough to put some things together for dinner. It was after we ate that we started to talk about the living room again. We walked into the living room to discuss things further before she sat on the couch. It didn't take long for me to pin her to the couch, devouring her neck. She was compliant at first before she started saying her safe word. I stopped immediately.
"Leo, I'm need a bit. It's been an emotional day."
