I'd gotten off early from work that day and I didn't want to go home just yet so I thought I'd visit William at his work for a bit. It had been a while since we met, almost a couple of weeks and my work had been really consuming for us to have a decent conversation over phone. I took the subway to his university, looking out the window. It was relatively warm today for a November afternoon outside but really windy. After deboarding, I looked around for the math department. Unsuccessfully, might I add.
Finally, I gave in to ask one of the students on campus if they knew where I could find it. They pointed me to the direction of an old building with open corridors. I walked past a group of students, clutching my coat tighter against my waist as a gust of cold wind blew. I gingerly made my way through the open corridors, peeping into classrooms along the way hoping to catch William in action. I saw him in front of a huge notice board, reading something on his iPad. I decided to watch him for a few seconds, he was so lost in whatever he was doing, he barely noticed me standing mere feet away. He looked so handsome with his black rimmed glasses and his dark hair ruffled from the wind. He was dressed in a brown tweed coat and black slacks, his face scrunched in concentration.
"Hey," I said, inching closer.
He looked up and stared at me for a few seconds.
"Hey..." He said carefully, like he couldn't believe what he saw.
"I got off of work early today so I thought we could maybe go for lunch together?"
He looked at me for a few seconds again.
"You thought well," he finally said.
"Can we please go to your office if that's okay? I'm getting cold," I said, pulling my scarf tighter.
"Yes, of course! I'm sorry," he blinked a couple of time as if finally awake. "Come with me," he grabbed me by the waist and we made our way deeper into the building, away from the open corridors.
