Him:
"I have about an hour before I leave so I will log on and send her a quick message." He thought as he stood in the bathroom, drying off after taking a shower.
He shaved, drew the towel back and forth on his back once again then cinched the towel around his waist. His dog met him at the door when he exited the bathroom. Tail wagging and happiness showing in his eyes.
"Hey Bud." He said as he gave his dog a scratch between the ears and a pat on its hind quarters.
The dog circled around his legs, then walked over to a sunlit area and laid down. Content and happy that he had trained his human well.
After lifting up the screen to his laptop, he hung his wet towel on a peg then put on a pair of mesh shorts while the screen was booting up.
Log on complete, no messages from her. (sad face)
He clicked on her screen icon and then hit new message.
"I hope you have had a great day today.
I have just finished with a shower and will be getting dressed to go to my gig. It is a Halloween gig and we have to dress up. I will be going as static cling. I am going to take a bunch of mismatched socks and pin them on me. :P
I hope you have fun at your event. Stay safe please. Let me know when you make it back home safely?"
He hit send then closed his computer.
As he turned towards his closet he stopped. Turned back towards his computer and began to open the screen again.
"It is too late, I already sent the message." He said aloud. "She will probably think I am a total geek now because I sent the little tongue sticking out thingy."
After flopping his hand on his head out of annoyance of himself, he closed the screen and began getting dressed.
Her:
The day had been chaotic, hectic, maddening, over the top busy and almost out of control. But, yet here she was standing in her bed room with a towel wrapped around her body post shower.
She had about an hour before she had to leave and go help set up for the fundraiser party. She had volunteered to help with decorations and setting up the silent auction tables.
It will be good to be surrounded by a lot of people tonight. No cares, no worries. People eating, singing, dancing and hopefully spending a lot of money on the items up for bid with the silent auction.
She walked over to her laptop, opened it up and waited for it to power on.
After logging on she felt a slight smile work its way to the edge of her lips.
He sent a message and she was glad that he understood how busy she can be.
Static cling huh. Oh boy, he does have a bit of an imagination.
Cute, a sticky out tongue. In control but has no issue of acting silly. The smile found its way to the other edge of her lips.
His message was sent about 50 minutes before so he had most likely left and is on the road.
Knowing that he will check for a message when he gets a chance, she decided to message him back.
"I am standing with a towel wrapped around me after my shower and have about an hour until I leave for my event too.
It has been a very busy day and I was unsure if I had time to get everything completed.
I did, and have a few minutes to spare after my shower.
Our event is also a Halloween themed party. I plan on going as the wicked witch from the Wizard of Oz except for the green makeup. I will be wearing a green wig instead.
I will let you know when I make it back home. If I remember. :P"
She sent the message and giggled that she too sent a sticky outie tongue happy face.
Him:
The venue was a good place to play. He had played quite a few shows with many different types of bands on that stage. Rock bands, jazz groups, swing dance bands and even a mariachi band.
Tonight was with a rock band. It was a fantastic group that he has played quite a few shows with and had gone on mini tours as well as cutting a few recordings. Fun, professional and entertaining is how he would describe this band.
He finished with the sound check, picked up his cases to stow them back stage. He then leaned against the wall and pulled out his phone.
A huge smile painted his face as he read the message she sent.
He quickly typed out a reply.
"Hey, you stuck your tongue out at me!!!
By the way, did you know that I just changed my name to towel?
Double :P"
"Too forward? Too silly?" He thought after he hit send. Once again too late now. It was sent and there is nothing wrong with being silly. "At least I hope not." He thought.
He walked up to the bar and asked for a bottle of water. The barkeep handed him the water and said, "Hitting the bottle hard tonight huh?"
"It gets pretty warm up on stage and I cannot afford to sweat what little talent I have out onto the floor." He said after paying for the water and pressing a few bills into the tip jar.
As he stood at the bar, he noticed all of the tables and decorations were being assembled and organized. The silent auction table was set up and he meandered over to see the offerings.
The typical autographed footballs and basketballs, hand sewn quilts, liquor baskets, time share weeks and various other sundries found at charitable fund raisers adorned the tables.
As he was getting ready to leave the last table, a piece of paper that advertised an auction item caught his eye.
He had bid and won many items at these events. Many times the item he won would be given to someone he knew that would appreciate the gift. There had been countless footballs, jerseys and Disney on ice tickets given to the children of coworkers. "Here ya go, thought your kid would like this." Or most of the time an anonymous gift given in order to keep away from the family wanting to pay him back.
The item that caught his eye would be for him though. He would keep this one. He knew he would win because it was something he wanted and he would pay in order to get what he wanted.
He placed his bid and would check on it during the break between the first two sets.
Her:
She arrived at the event and was happy to see everything was running as smoothly as expected. She enjoyed the conversation and the entertaining atmosphere. Lively music was being played over the speakers and she was surprised to see that a live band was going to be playing.
"I wonder." She thought as she looked at the stage. She saw the trumpet sitting on its stand and laughed. "There is no way it could be him. He would have told me if he knew he was going to play this event. Would he? Or would he try to surprise me?"
Having never met in person, she was not sure if she would recognize him unless he introduced himself. Then again, would he recognize her? What if it was him and he was nothing like she expected. She had already told him her costume and she did not bring a back up. There would be no way of hiding with her costume.
With 5 minutes left until doors open, she put the finishing touches on her decorations and placing the items with the description pages for the silent auction. She told one of her friends that she was going to go put on her costume and would be right back.
The long sparkly eye lashes took quite a bit longer to attach than expected, but, she did have to put her own flair on the witch costume.
The band was playing as she returned from the bathroom and she began to bob and sway to the music as she worked her way through the crowd. Once she reached her table, she exchanged pleasantries with her friends. She lifted her glass to her lips as she glanced towards the stage.
Fortunately it was water she had just sipped then spit into her napkin.
