"Ok, I'm just packing up, on my way!" Kelli laughed at her mother's response. "Don't let her get at that cake. Tell Tom to distract her!" She laughed, hit the red dot on her phone screen, shouldered her bag and dashed out, her ponytail swinging. She couldn't help but sneak in a quick look at the nameplate next to her office door -- 'Kelli Meadows, Controller'. Even after eight months it still felt like Marjorie's office. Her boss was still her boss, just now the CFO. Tom had been promoted a year ago to head of IT, so they were both department heads. She was proud both of the promotion she'd earned and the last name she had taken so proudly.
Kelli was, as usual, in a happy mood. 'I have so much to be thankful for.'
She hopped in the Jeep and sped off. She'd long ago gotten in the habit of using her commuting time for reflection, tuning in a light jazz station for background, trying not to be on the phone. She smiled as her mind went back to the 'beginning', as she called it -- when she and Tom Meadows had first crossed paths, become Gym Buddies, then friends, then good friends, then lovers, then so much more.
The conversation with Richard that Saturday had been very hard, but while he didn't take it well initially, he eventually came to accept that he wasn't ready for marriage and they had been able to keep in touch -- at a distance. Kelli and Tom took to cohabitation well, with Tom figuring out quickly that the house was now hers, not his, and he was just fine with that. On the day after Kelli's divorce was final they were consumed in their 'normal' morning shower routine -- passionate love making -- when Tom abruptly announced. "We're getting married, Kel, as soon as we can." She laughed. "Really? Um, do I get a vote?" She remembered the pained look on his face before she grinned and responded. "Yes, I will marry you, Tom Meadows. We've actually been married since our Thursday night date, baby. We just didn't know it." She'd never seen Tom's smile any bigger than that morning. He plucked an engagement ring from on top the shower head and slid it onto her finger. That was the only day they'd both been late to work - by three hours!
About a month after that fateful Saturday Connie had announced to Patti and Kelli she fully approved of Tom Meadows. Patti, ever the wise-ass, piped up. "Yea, I really like him too, Mom -- actually much better than I like Kel!" That earned Patti a sharp punch in the shoulder from her sister. Anyone not knowing Tom and Patti but watching them would swear they were brother and sister as they teased each other constantly. Patti and Kelli were glad to see Tom and Ricardo bond, with Ricardo joining Tom's Saturday morning hoops gang, giving the sisters their weekly connection time.
Kelli and Tom got married in a casual family ceremony up in the hills two months later. The group was fairly large, with Tom's parents, his brother Alan, home on leave, and a cluster of other relatives. Kelli's family included Connie's delightful husband Al and a swarm of very attractive, very busty blonde aunts and cousins. Tom had enlisted two of his most normal single hoops buddies as groomsmen and both gawked at the 'target-rich' environment, not paying Tom a lick of attention. One, Eric, struck gold with Keli's buxom blonde cousin Sammy, and they ended up married - with three kids, at last count. Kelli looked angelic in a beautiful turquoise wrap dress that tastefully showed off her magnificent cleavage and her incredible shape. Tom was a grin on two legs the entire ceremony. As they completed their vows, both tearing up, the newlyweds embraced and kissed for a good five minutes, lost in their bubble, to the amusement of the crowd. Every single one of the sixteen Helgeson women present cried. Patti and Ricardo got married three months later, so they repeated the whole show.
The families overall blended well, with Tom's father, surprisingly, taking to Kelli immediately and effectively adopting her as his daughter, much to the consternation of Tom's mother, who was just wired to be uptight. Tom's heart swelled when Kelli began referring to his father as 'Dad', as he did. Kelli was very happy that Tom had quickly taken to Connie, Patti and Clara, and they had fully accepted him into the family -- as far as a male could go!
Aside from Marjorie, Tom and Kelli didn't tell anyone at the bank they were together or engaged until after the wedding when Kelli went to Terri in HR to change her last name on her paycheck. "Meadows? Really? Hey, just like Tom in IT. What a coincidence!"
Kelli smiled. "Well, not really -- he's now my husband." Terri about fell off her chair, speechless. Kelli and Tom decided to keep their distance at work as much as possible to keep the chatter down -- and to avoid the strong temptation to make feverous love in some conference room! The word got around the bank fast, with a parade of executives stopping by their offices to congratulate Kelli and Tom. Dayon high-fived her boss when she found out.
They did have an ongoing, romantic -- and sometimes x-rated - text chat in the secret app where every day Tom found a different way to ask how his wife's breasts were doing!

Two months after Patti's wedding the sisters were having coffee together on a Saturday morning while their men were sweating at the Y. "So, something's been kicking around in my head ever since that morning we all sat in Mom's car waiting for Tom to come home."
Patti's arched her eyebrows. "Really? What?"
"You were so sure Tom would take me back."
She grinned. "Yep - your big sister's just that smart, Kel, figured it out."
Kelli's eyes narrowed -- she was suspicious, and Patti could tell she was going to get busted. "No, somehow you knew he'd say yes. How?"
"Hey, I just knew he-"
Kelli cut her off. "Bullshit. Tell me how you knew, or I'll beat it out of you!"
Pattis stuck her tongue out at her sister. "Try it, blondie, and you'll be hurtin' for certain." Kelli grabbed for Patti's arm, but Patti pulled it back quickly, having anticipated her sister's move. "Ok, ok, I'll tell you -- just to spare you the humiliation of me whupping your butt."
Kelli glared fiercely at her sister.
"So, I called Tom after you and I had lunch Wednesday of that week you were apart. He didn't answer, so I went to see him that night.
"You did? You didn't tell me?"
"Nope. Mine and Tom's secret. I asked him if he hated you, and he said no. Then I asked him if he loved you, and he said yes. That's all."
"He never told me, and we share everything."
"Kel, remember, he was devastated that week. He's probably tried to forget the whole time." Patti touched her sister's hand. "It was obvious that you and Tom were perfect for each other. The two of you just needed a little help from big sister to get you there." Patti grinned and pointed her thumbs at her chest, like The Fonz.
Kelli sat silently for a minute, then smiled. "Making me apologize to him in the gym, the negligΓ©e, the scalp massage, the cake, the singing, going to see him -- it was all part of your plan to get us together."
