CHAPTER ONE: BACKYARD CAMPING
"Thanks for letting me camp out with Ashley, Mr. and Mrs. Watson." Davis Marley said as he and I walked to the backyard. "When she suggested camping in the yard, I couldn't say no to sleeping in nature."
"It's a beautiful night for it," said my dad. "Besides, I trust you with her."
I saw the flicker of shame in Davis's eyes, but it went unnoticed by my father. "Yeah," he said. "Thanks, Mr. Watson."
"Come on, Davis," I said. "Let's get the tent set up before it gets too dark."
"You can use the open firepit for a campfire." Mom said. "Just be careful."
"Got it, Mom!" I said and they went back inside. "Let's go over by there." I pointed to a spot about ten or twelve feet from the firepit. It took about twenty minutes to get the tent pitched and set up and our blankets inside. I lit the fire and we roasted some hotdogs over the fire and had our dinner.
The stars dotted the dark sky and the only light in our yard was from the firepit. Davis poured water over the fire, putting it out. "Are you tired?" he asked.
"No, but we can head into the tent." I said. The tent was big enough to fit four people, so we had enough room if we rolled around during our sleep. We had a large, thick blanket that could fit a king-sized bed on the floor of the tent and the large comforter we were using was ready for us to sleep in. "So, are you tired?"
"Nope, not yet." Davis said and lay back, slightly propped up against the bakc of the tent. I lay beside him, on my side facing him. "What?" he said, when he noticed me looking at him.
"I could ask you the same thing," I said. "You've been quiet for a while and you seem a bit stressed out."
"Just some crazy shit going on at home." Davis told me. "My parents are fighting and I needed to get out of there."
"I figured it was something like that." I said and scooted closer to him. "You're my best friend, Davis. I would do anything to help you." I sat up a little and he did the same. "Are you okay?"
"I promise, I'm fine," he assured me. "Are you?"
"There is something that's on my mind." I said. "We've been friends for years. Since we were three and today's my eighteenth birthday."
"Yeah, so?" he said.
"What I want for my birthday is something that nobody can wrap. You're giving me something and taking something away." I said. He looked confused. "I want you to take my virginity."
"Oh, shit," he said. "That's...wow!"
"I'm sorry if this is a shock to you, but I don't trust anyone as much as you." I said. "Please?"
