I walked up to the receptionist and introduced myself.
"Hello," I said. "I'm Victor Jones. I have a four-thirty meeting with Denise Mitchell."
She smiled back.
"Just a moment, sir."
She dialed and extension on her phone and announced my presence to Denise on the other end. She hung up.
"Ms. Mitchell will be right with you."
"Thank you very much," I replied. I went and sat down in a chair and waited.
A few moments later, a young blonde woman walked towards me. She looked very familiar, but I couldn't place from where.
"Mr. Jones," she said. "I'm Denise Mitchell."
"Please, call me Victor," I replied.
"Only if you call me Denise. Please come back to my office."
She was still looking very familiar, but I still couldn't place from where. I was thinking maybe she just had one of those faces. Besides, she was from New York and I was from Pittsburgh, so the chances of us having met in person recently were slim. But her voice was familiar as well, but that could have been from talking on the phone during business.
She led me into her office.
"So," she said as we both sat down, "why don't you give me an overview of what your firm has to offer? Why should my company change our attorney to you?"
I went over in detail with her the services my law firm provided and the advantages to doing business with us. I detailed our history and our success with companies similar to her own, and I could tell she was close to signing a retainer.
"I like what you're proposing," she said. "I'll have to run it by our board, but things look pretty good. We've been looking to change law firms for almost a year now."
"Well, you won't go wrong with my firm, I promise you that."
"I'm sure I won't."
I was still trying to place why she looked so familiar. Then it hit me. I was almost sure of it. But saying something, if I was wrong, maybe even if I was right, could cost me the client and maybe my job if what I was thinking about saying. But I was thinking it might be worth the risk.
"I'm sorry," I said, "but this has been egging at me since I first saw you, but you look so damn familiar."
She looked at me.
"To be honest," she said, "I was thinking you look pretty familiar, too."
"I'm trying to decide whether to say this or not, because if I'm wrong...this might sound very offensive."
She shook her head.
"That's it," she said. "I think I know who you are."
"Then you're thinking the same thing I am," I said. "You're WetSlut1981, right?"
"And you're VicAndHisDick."
I nodded.
"We cam-chatted a few times a few weeks back."
