Delta Delta Sigma, Part 1
May, eight years ago.
"I don't know how I'm going to make it, now," Veronica sobbed across from her friend. She and Rebecca sat in a California coffee shop at 10:00pm, the sun-made shadows of the day long gone, replaced by those created with artificial lights. "Good jobs are getting harder and harder to find... and with Jenn, it's even harder for me to find one with the right hours."
Rebecca's hands surrounded and squeezed Veronica's. "You know I'll help you any way I can..." she said softly. "The car dealership didn't work out?"
"No... they said I didn't have enough experience in the automotive field. Like I can even get experience without them.
"Jeez... idiots..." Rebecca answered. "I know you. You'd pick it up fast."
Veronica pulled her hand back and fell back into the booth. "I hate my life and hate Roger more for leaving me like that."
"I know... but it doesn't do you any good to go back like that. You gotta keep moving forward."
"Easy for you to say. You've got a silver spoon right now. I'm afraid I won't make rent this month. What in the hell did you do to get so lucky all the sudden?"
Rebecca looked down, smiled, and shook her head.
Veronica leaned forward again. "You were complaining about money problems just a couple months ago. Then you go and find the perfect man, with all the money..."
"Well, it's kind of silly, really," Rebecca said softly, looking around to make sure the nearby patrons couldn't hear her.
"I'll take silly, if it get's me something like Joe..." Veronica said, urging Rebecca to spill the beans.
Rebecca took a second to collect her thoughts, almost to the point of driving Veronica crazy.
"You know Theresa is fourteen and is going to be going off to college soon... and I was trying to see how I could even manage to help her. I didn't want her to get stuck like I was. And I heard about this kind of sorority that helps get girls into a real good college. So... I checked them out."
Veronica looked at her, expecting a lot more revelation than that. "Yeah?... And?"
"They have this kind of... I don't know... assistance program. They told me that if I did what they said, that she'd get to go to college at this nice, Ivy League school, and my troubles would go away. I signed papers.... and, uh... agreed.... and met Joe a week later. Since then things have been just going my way."
"So, you just sign Theresa up for college and... that's solved all your problems?"
"Yeah," Rebecca nodden, smiling. "I told you it's silly."
Veronica sat back again, staring at her friend. "Yeah, that's silly..." she agreed, shaking her head. "Which sorority?"
"It was...," Rebecca paused, searching her memory. "Delta Delta Sigma." I don't know how big they are, but they're on a couple different campuses. The web site talks about them a little."
"Like I can even get on a web site right now. Can you give me a phone number?"
"Sure, I'll get it to you. Are you going to try to enroll Jenn? At ten years old?"
"I'll see what they say at least. I could use that assistance program."

June, eight years ago.
It was a short drive to the college and the sorority wasn't hard to find. It was a rather large building on the fringe of the university. Veronica pulled into the parking lot and got out, her hands shaking nervously. She held them together, trying to calm herself as she went into the front door and talked with the student receptionist. The girl was young, obviously not much more than eighteen, and was extremely bubbly.
"Mrs. Jared?" an attractive girl asked, walking through an office door towards her, her hand outstretched. "My name is Susan and I'm the Delta Delta Sigma sorority president. It's very nice to meet you." Veronica extended her hand and shook the other's. Susan was very professional for her young age, obviously in her early twenties.
Veronica was confused at first, looking at the young woman and wondering if she'd somehow seen her before. It only took a moment for her to remember that it was the woman in her dream last night... the woman that... that... Veronica felt a flush of pleasure flow through her, coming from the young woman's hand. Her eyes fluttered for a moment as her legs nearly buckled. She felt her body heat up almost instantly. She hadn't had sex in several months, but even so, this level of desire and pleasure took her by surprise.
"Just wonderful to meet you," Susan said, releasing her hand. "Come in to my office here so we can talk... in private.
Susan and Veronica walked into Susan's office and the younger woman closed the door behind them. "Please, have a seat." Susan took a seat behind her clean desk while Veronica sat in one of the two plush chairs in front of it.
"So, Mrs. Jared... do you mind if I call you Veronica? I feel it's less formal..." Veronica was just opening her mouth to agree with the girl, but Susan continued regardless, as if not even caring for her agreement.
