Megan the Sitter Chapter 5
* Note some sections of this chapter will be from different characters' perspectives. I will be sure to note the changes accordingly.
The summer has come to an end.
The school year started and things went back to a regular routine. Megan resumed her college classes and the kids started back at school. Julie and I still had Megan watch the kids and kept our monthly date nights. Everything was status quo. Julie and I were having sex several times a week. It was definitely just basic but that's all she wanted. Megan and I continued our not so basic fun on the nights she stayed over as well. I was honestly surprised I could keep up with both of them.
Megan was becoming a "drug". The endorphins that were released during our fun was such as high. The few times a month were no longer enough. I needed more. I needed a fix more often. The problem was how?
It must have been about the end of October or early November when one night at dinner Julie brought something up.
"So, I was offered a promotion at work" she said.
"We'll, that's exciting!" I answered.
"Not really," she said. "Although it is a promotion there isn't much of a pay increase. It also changes my hours and we would need to have the kids go to an early morning program a few days and an aftercare program other days. The cost of that alone is a lot more than the increase in pay. So, I'm not sure. What do you think?"
I answered, "Well, like you said, the benefits don't outweigh the risks. Although, your small increase in pay, we also take on a larger financial burden and we will end up with less residual monthly income. So, what's the point?"
"I figured you would think the same way!" she said.
The following day, as much as she wanted to say yes, Julie told her job as much as she wanted a promotion, she couldn't accept the position because the small increase wasn't enough to offset the potential additional expenses we would incur.
That evening Julie told me she turned the position down and that they seemed bummed but they also understood what she was facing. She said they seemed let down. She got the impression that they really felt she was the right fit and were let down well. She mentioned that they said they would do some thinking on their end. Explore other candidates and options and make a decision.

Written from Julie's P.O.V.
So, after I turned down the offer for the promotion my employer sought out a few candidates. I didn't hear anything for a week and assumed they had found a suitable person.
A little over two weeks later I was called into my boss' office. I assumed it was to meet the newly hired person.
When I entered the room there was no one new.
They informed me that after multiple candidates they couldn't find the right fit for the company and position. The owners had convened and decided to make me a different offer. They were confident I had all the qualifications and wanted to make it work for me. They told me when they first offered me the position that they didn't consider my family obligations and failed to realize how much the additional child care expenses would result in an overall lloss of net income.
They were willing to double their initial offer and to help offset the cost of child care and increase my current wage by 10% as well. I was blown away. It was certainly generous. It was a Friday morning, I had the rest of the morning and afternoon to make phone calls and find a daycare provider.
"May I have until the weekend?" I asked. "Being that some before and after school programs have a wait list now that school is well underway, I want to make sure that I'm able to find child care. Is that okay?"
"That's definitely doable!" they said.
I walked out of the office in shock. I called a few local child care centers that morning. As I expected they were full and offered me a waitlist.
Then it occurred to me, "Megan! What about Megan?"
I sent Megan a text.
