See you in 5.
Sent seven minutes ago. Read three minutes after that.
I can see you sitting inside the cafe. You've been there waiting since before I pulled into my parking spot twenty minutes ago. I've been waiting for this day for so long. You're just as handsome as your picture but I worry you won't feel the same about me. My favorite response to being complimented is to reply with "I take a decent picture."
But you, you look even better than I had expected. I need a drink. Just a little liquid courage. My heart is beating faster than my morning coffee. I take a few deep breathes before I pick my phone back up. I can tell by your slumped shoulders that you think you've been stood up.
I set my phone back down without looking at your messages. You get up slowly from your booth before leaving. On the way out I see you toss a second drink out. I'm pretty sure that was ordered for me. You know me well. My words at least. It had taken almost a year for the stars to align enough for us to meet. I know I'm an idiot of if I pass this up.
Feeling a little stalkerish I follow you to your hotel. Parking almost directly behind you I watch as you retreat indoors.
"Fuck."
