She felt heat rush to her cheeks as his eyes met hers and he gave a thin, polite smile and said, "Good morning" and stepped aside to allow her off the elevator.
"Morning," she mumbled as she averted her gaze and quickly headed to her office. As she rounded the corner, she bumped right into Lizzie, sending files scattering to the ground.
"Grace! Watch where you're going!" Lizzie cried.
"I'm so sorry, Lizzie!" Grace apologized as she bent down to help gather all the files on the ground, "I don't know where my head is at this morning."
Lowering her voice, Lizzie said, "Colin sighting, huh? You're still blushing." She smiled knowingly.
Grace looked up sharply from the file folder on the ground, eyes wide as they met Lizzie's eyes. Lizzie just chuckled softly and scooped up the rest of the files. They both stood and Grace continued to her office with Lizzie following closely behind. Neither of them spoke until they got to Grace's office and Lizzie closed the door behind her.
"Did you finally say more than just 'good morning' to him?" Lizzie asked and, before Grace could answer, Lizzie went on, "You're blushing again."
With her cheeks on fire, she said "I don't see how this is any of your business!"
"Well I'm the only one who knows you're madly in love with Colin Gilmore so I think it's all of my business," Lizzie hissed.
Grace couldn't argue. She'd been at this firm for almost six months and still hadn't spoken to Colin. She had refrained because he'd made partner just after she'd started and now he seemed off limits.
