"I will look out for you," said Mildred Eustache as she hugged the hell out of Franklin Williamson. The mature Haitian woman smiled to herself while holding onto that fine young black American man. Franklin looked a lot like his father Jerrod Williamson, a military man who reminded Mildred of the actor Louis Gossett Jr. too bad Jethro was married to a white lady named Karen Ambroise because good looks run in the family. Since Mildred couldn't have the father, she would settle for the son. A win is a win at the end of the day.
Back in the day, Franklin's mother Gloria Williamson was good friends with Mildred Eustache. The two black women met while attending Spelman College in the City of Atlanta, Georgia, and remained friends in the decades since. After spotting Franklin at Gloria's funeral, Mildred had to offer him words of comfort. The brother was twenty years old and just lost his mama. To say that this is a difficult time would be an understatement. Mildred was just what Franklin would need to get through the grieving process...
"Thank you ma'am," Franklin replied, and Mildred Eustache nodded, though her thoughts and feelings for Franklin were anything but motherly. The young black man was handsome, with a solid body on him. Mildred most definitely wanted some of Franklin's masculine goodness but knew it would take some time. The mature Haitian woman was perfectly willing to play the long game. Mildred is a successful woman who owns three hair salons in the Metro Atlanta area, plus one authentic Haitian restaurant. The lady likes to play her games and what she wants, she usually gets.
"Whenever you need me, you have but to call," Mildred assured Franklin, who nodded sagely. In the months since the funeral, Franklin resumed his classes at Morehouse College, and focused on his civil engineering studies. Mildred continued to meet with Franklin, checking up on him from time to time. The Haitian gal was generous with her time and money. Franklin was a broke college student and he was grateful to Mildred for bringing him home cooked meals at his dorm on the Morehouse College campus. It all seemed so innocent...
Mildred Eustache is the kind of lady that everyone thinks of as a pure radiant saint. At Saint Theresa Church in the south side of Atlanta, Mildred is the head deaconess and a close friend of Omar Pruitt, the church pastor. After Omar Pruitt's wife, Saint Theresa Church first lady Anika Hackett died prematurely, Mildred provided the grieving widower with a lot of comfort. Mildred seems to show up around a lot of men who lose their wives, their mothers or other female loved ones. If someone were the suspicious type, they might have been disturbed by Mildred's pattern. Fortunately, Atlanta church folks are the trusting type. Isn't that awesome?
One evening, Mildred received a call from Franklin which gladdened her black little heart. Franklin had been dating a white chick named Deirdre whose uptight parents apparently didn't approve of him. When Deirdre dumped Franklin, the distraught young black man called his favorite female confidante. Mildred went to Franklin's place. Fortunately, Franklin's roommate Edgar somebody was out on the town. Mildred showed up and took care of business. Gathering Franklin in her arms, Mildred helped him forget all about Deirdre...
