Hello and thanks for reading! I went a little overboard with this one and it ended up quite long so I divided it up into three chapters. As always, all these characters are fictional and please feel free to leave feedback or comment and let me know which of my stories you'd be most excited about getting another chapter!

Chapter 1
"Come in!" Ava yelled downstairs upon hearing the doorbell. "Oh shit!" she yelled at herself running downstairs and opening the door. "Sorry, forgot I locked it," Ava said half ashamed.
"I know. That's why I only rang twice," chuckled Melissa. "It happens every time I come over."
"Not every... well... sometimes... whatever, come on up," Ava stammered as she jogged up the stairs.
"For someone who has her professional life so together, you're a disaster when you're not in the office huh?" Melissa chided.
"No I'm... okay yeah kinda," Ava shrugged as she went up to her room.
Ava couldn't deny that Melissa was right. She had busted her ass, put herself through Law School, passed the bar, became a lawyer and was generally well liked by everyone in her firm but when it came to the more domestic tasks she was maybe one step up from a complete failure. Ava had saved to get herself a house close to work, and aside from the very basic household maintenance she mostly didn't do anything at her house except laundry, eat and sleep. It felt like forever since she was able to have Melissa over without apologizing for clothes lying around or the lack of vacuuming, or files stacked everywhere. Of course, every time she apologized Melissa would yell at her for apologizing for no reason. Something else she had a bad habit of doing.
"Can I move these?" Melissa asked pointing at the stack of paper on Ava's desk chair.
"Yeah for sure, sorry...." Ava stopped herself before finishing that sentence as Melissa's glare caught her eye.
"Thanks..." Melissa started as she moved the papers, setting her bag down next to the bed. "So whats the plan huh? We doing scary movies? Trash TV? Or are we doing a high school throwback and doing makeovers?"
"Oh uhh... I've never been very good at make up" Ava chuckled nervously.
"Whaaaaaaat?" Melissa said in the least sarcastic tone she could muster with a chuckle. "You?"
"Ha... Ha, you're hilarious" Ava said as she rolled her eyes "I just never saw a point honestly. I didn't want anyone I work with to be able to accuse me of only getting promoted because I was pretty."
"Fuck yeah" Melissa held up her arm for a high-five, smiling as Ava obliged her. "So then... I can only assume you want to talk about the news?"
"What news?" Ava asked hopping onto her bed.
"Like you don't know... Raul?" Melissa raised an eyebrow in Ava's direction.
"Yeah, office hottie, what about him?" Ava asked lying down
"Hottie? No no sweetie. He's not just hot. He's gorgeous. Flawless tanned skin, tall, beard, black hair and green eyes, oh and that accent?. He is not just 'hot', he's... he's..."
"He's getting a restraining order against you?" Ava laughed as she jabbed at Melissa.
"Ohhh I wish he would give me that much attention" Melissa joined in "but alas, due to my lack of foresight I was married before I even met him."
"Don't let Vincent catch you talking like that" Ava jabbed again, reminding Melissa of her husband as though she had forgotten, because she wasn't completely sure she hadn't forgotten him.
"Vincent is a fucking king, and if he were here, and knew what Raul looked like, he would tell me to go for it and then fuck me senseless when I got rejected." Melissa paused a bit, before both girls laughed nearly in unison.
"So whats the news then?" Ava asked, turning back to the conversation at hand.
"You really don't know? Have you checked your socials today?" Melissa stared in disbelief.
"Look at this place, like I have time?" Ava gestured around her.
"Looking at this place I know you have time" Melissa laughed, returning fire for the jabs earlier. "but seriously, he broke up with that obnoxious bimbo of a girlfriend of his. Hand to god."
Ava felt a slight pounding in her chest as she grabbed her phone, eagerly searching through her apps to try and verify the information. In her excited rush she accidentally opened two different but equally incorrect apps before getting to the right one and seeing that Melissa was indeed telling the truth.
"Oh... uhhh... I mean... so... he's single." Ava said out loud but to nobody in particular "It doesn't mean he'd ever be interested in me. I mean look at these photos."
Ava pointed her screen towards Melissa as she flipped through them. "Last girlfriend, barbie, one before that, barbie, before that, barbie, and before that..."
Melissa placed her hand on the phone, tilting it down from Ava's gaze. "So he has a type. Might just mean he hasn't tried any other... flavors?"
"Or... he knows what he likes" Ava contested.
"Ugh you're such a lawyer" Melissa groaned, flopping onto the bed next to Ava.
"So. Are. You!" Ava poked Melissa firmly between the eyebrows, letting her finger linger there until Melissa looked up at it. "And besides I'm 32..."
"Ah!" Melissa gasped. "Throwing around the government age?"
"Shut up" Ava giggled. "I mean, I'm a few years older than him, and I don't look anything like any girl he's ever dated. I've got this dark hair, and my tits are real, and I don't wear cocktail dresses even if I AM going to a cocktail bar, let alone all day long."
"Alright welp, that settles it. We're doing makeovers, grab my bag." Melissa commanded "We're going to work on that confidence of yours. Starting by making you look like a naughty little slut that will turn even Raul's head."
Ava chuckled and while she was hesitant at first, she relented, letting Melissa sit almost atop her in the bed and apply makeup to her face. It was, hypnotically relaxing. The strokes of the various brushes on her skin, the smooth and even breathing, it helped to calm down the flutter in Ava's chest that had been there ever since she heard about Raul's new single status.
"All done." Melissa said, as she capped her lipstick and returned it to her bag.
